I am planning another trip to Buenos Aires, and I would like to know if it is possible to negotiate a special rate in $A rather than in the higher $US??? The best rate I can get at the Sheaton Libratdor is $109 which is not bad, but since this is a vacation, I would hope to get a better rate, otherwise I will use points.
Any advice on how to negotiate payment at a better rate in local currency would be appreciated!!!

Call the hotel directly.... but, be aware that some AR$ rates may require you to present some sort of local residence documentation. Having said that, some hotels dont have differential US$/AR$ rates, so you may have one of the better deals out there.

I agree completely with Gaucho. As an American living in BA I do have my DNI (local ID) and many of the more "touristy" hotels will only quote US rates unless you have a DNI. Amazingly, I have seen the rate be the SAME in Pesos if you qualify for local rates (which of course means the rate becomes less than a third of the original quote).

All 4 and 5 star hotels are bleeding badly now. We stated at a suite for about $50 inc 2 breakfasts last 2002. Why care about pesos .. just front the desk and get their lowest DOLLAR rate.
