Hmmm... interesting. I stayed at that property several times last year, and had no inkling that a rebranding was in the works.

This hotel is a bit worn at the edges, and could use a rehab.

The $1.5 million that they spent is only a drop in the bucket for what is needed to restore luster.

The Marriott nearby is a much nicer and newer property and was usually priced around the same level.

I stayed at the Sheraton because of my loyalty to the SPG. With recent SPG changes, I can actually stay in the better quality (Marriott) hotel without feeling as if I'm missing out on a good frequent stay program.

Life just got easier.

I am in shock. I have stayed at this property monthly for the last 4-5 years. It is nothing special,but a consistent and professionally run hotel in good location. The downtown B'ham Sheraton is a dump with terrible service. My days as a Plat have probably come to an end. I will miss the SPG program.
