Starwood Preferred Guest - What expectations for St. Regis DC?

I have searched topics for this hotel and it sounds like others have had problems here with upgrades, attitudes, etc. Has anyone had "recent" experience here? I am thinking about staying there later this week and would appreciate any advice.

The Superior rooms that they upgrade most Platinums to are not suites, but they are very nice decent sized rooms. I've never gotten a suite there, but I still like this hotel for it's location and decent prices.
