I completed a one night stay last night at the St. Regis in DC (2 Rooms). Although previously I had problems receiving an upgrade at this property (last year), I was upgraded to an Astor Suite (950 sq. ft.) for one of the rooms. The butler service was exceptional and fruit trays and chocolates were delivered to both rooms. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.

I just wanted to update everyone that things appear to be getting better at this property with respect to adhering to SPG Platinum benefits.

I came home today from DC. Because of bad talk here about the St. Regis, I cancelled reservation there and stayed at the Westin Grand in Foggy Bottom. Got upgraded to suite, very good service. Would go back there again. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Maybe St. Regis read the rap here and cleaned up their act.

What is an "Astor" room? I have never stayed at a ST. Regis and found this option on a discount site. It did not say suite, just room. Do SPG Gold get breakfast in this room type?

The Astor rooms are on a preferred floor with butler service. The exact description of the room is:

Luxury Room W/Exterior View, Deluxe Bathroom Amenities, Packing/Unpacking Service, Comp Pressing Of 2 Items.

As far as I know, St. Regis hotels do not offer free breakfast unless it's part of a package deal when booking.
