When I stayed at The Westin Osaka (Japan), I booked a standard twin room and was upgraded to a "Corner Suite" on standard floors because I am a platinum member.
This suite is not a suite, however with a working area which might be a sitting corner too.
I asked the receptionist "Do I have the choice to be upgraded to a twin-room on executive floor or to a corner suite on standard floor?", - the answer was "No."
"We do not upgrade platinum members to executive floors, only to corner suites on standard floors."
I also asked "So, Do I have still access to the executive lounge which is stated in terms and conditions of SPG?" - the answer was "No."
"Because our executive lounge does not have enough seats, only guests on executive floors have accedd to the lounge."
SPG Terms and Conditions :
Platinum Preferred Guest Benefits
5. Access to the Executive Level when staying at Westin hotels, even when not staying on the Executive Level floor(s).
Please help, William.
