Can you transfer Starwoods Starpoints to Airline programs (e.g. Qantas) on their website or do you have to call Starwoods Customer Service to do this?

you can do it on line, you may want to do 20K at a time which will give you a 5K bonus.
They will e-mail you a confirmation with the transfer and a confirmation number on it.

I would recommend calling Starwood for this transfer. When this Qantas/Starwood/Concorde transfer was first discovered I went to the web site and thought I had transferred 52,500 points to Qantas. I received a 'confirm' from Starwood stating that for that amount I was receiving 125,000 QF points. I then diligently kept checking my QF account. As of last week nothing!!, so I called Starwood and asked about the transfer, (also my account balace at Starwood had not shown a decrease). The Starwood rep then told me that their is a limit of 39,999 points that can be accepted by QF as a transfer per day!!. Thus my 52,500 was rejected and never done. There was no mention (that I saw) of this 39,999 figure when I initally made my transaction. I then proceeded to transfer (with the reps aide) 20,000 points and the next day 32,500. My Starwood account has been duly debited and I've received a confirmation from them to that effect. Now, I once again just have to wait for QF to post.

I have transferred points to AA many times. I do it in 20K increments because I think the 5K bonus is on transferring 20K plus, so I think if you transferred 39,999 you would lose out. It takes about a couple of weeks, the the total is reduced immediately on the starwood account. I would wait a day for each transfer just to make sure I got my bonuses.

The website says the daily maximum is 99,999, but it should have flagged you when you tried do transfer 52,500 points to QF due to their 2x transfer ratio. This is why 39,999 is the limit with QF - because 40K would net 100,000. 39,999 would net 89,999. If you wait a day and do it in 2 shots of 20K each, you'll get the full 100K.

Meanwhile, I did all my transfers online in a succession of 5 days at 20K each. I got an email with each transfer confirming 50K going into QF. It's been about 18 days and they haven't posted yet. I'll be calling SPG on the 31st day if they haven't started posting.

I'm a little confused about the 5k bonus. I have 44,000 points in my Starwood account. If I transfer ALL of them in one trsnsaction, will I get 54,000 miles? Or do I have to do two transactions in order to get two 5k bonuses?

Can anyone tell me typically how long it takes to see these show up in an AA AAdvantage account. I understand Starwood says to allow 14 days, but does it typically take less?

I recently did the *wood->AA transfer.

Requesting 60k transferred gets you 75k into your AA account. i.e. no need to only do 20k at a time to get the 5k bonus. But, because of the 99,999 limit the most bonus miles you can get per transfer (i.e. per day) is 15k.

It took only a week or two to show up in my AA account. Do a search on earlier threads and I think there's a thread I started (or contributed to) where we were talking about when the transfers had been requested and when they came through. (Sorry to not do the search myself; my computer's been flakey tonight and I'm scared of losing this message to a crash if I try to search.)
