I would like to see properties in the following locations:
- Lake Tahoe
- Monterey/Carmel
- Las Vegas (The Caeser's deal just doesn't cut it). Even a 4 Points would get 3 to 6 nights a year from me.
- Wine Country in California
- South Beach in Miami (Hurry up with the W already!)

Las Vegas is definitely one place i would like them to expand in, but with hotels like Bellagio and the Venetian, it is pretty difficult to survive.

You just might get your wish for a Starwood property in downtown Dallas. Supposedly the plan is to put a W property in next to the new American Airlines Center with the big "Victory" development. However, much remains to be worked out for this development to move forward.
Me personally, I would like to see some Starwood in Austin. Most of my business takes me there, but there is now only one property, a lousy Four Points on the north side of town. That's why most of my stays (and points) are with Hilton.
I would think that Starwood would want into this market. Not only the business and government folks downtown, but the high-tech sector on the north side up into Williamson county.

I agree with the Carmel/Monterey nomination.
Having just spent 104 ni/32 stays in the area so far this year (with many more upcoming), I could have really used a Starwood property. Decent presence by everyone else (Hyatt, Hilton, ES, Marriott, Doubletree, Park Hyatt), why not Starwood?

Austin, TX. Either in the city or a resort on the lakes.

I could do 30 / 35 nights with a 4 Pts in the Hickory area and Greensboro area of North Carolina or Martinsville, Va. The Sheraton in Greensboro / Raleigh is beyond my per diem and Charlotte 4 Pts is way out of the way.

Starwood's offerings in California north of San Francisco are very limited, it seems, and it would be great to have some hotels there.
Maybe a W Hotel in Eureka http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

and, shouldn't there be more St. Regis / Wetin tier properties in major cities? e.g. HK?

In London, I'd love to have a *wood property in walking distance to Paddington Station because of its connectivity to Heathrow -- the Paddington Hilton is a coup for them!
And it would be great if there was a W hotel somewhere in London -- anywhere.
Also on my wish list is a *wood in Oxford UK, as I'm there on business at least a half-dozen times a year. But that would be too good to be true.

I second juanvaldez. On vacation, I was surprised at the lack of Starwood in N. Calif, OR and WA. Nothing outside Sea/Tac, Portland and SF area (except Salishan). As a matter of fact, the coast and the I5 seem to lack a presence from national chains other than BW from Olympia to Redding, although there are some good local hotels that would make admirable 4pts or even Sheratons.
I remember an old hotel in downtown Eureka that just had W stamped all over it.

A W in Toronto would be great.
Mind u, I shouldn't complain, there is a Westin and 2 Sheratons in and around Toronto.

Almost the same as my wish list when someone raised this subject last year. Disappointed to see no developments in those cities. I have been back to all of them again this year, and still bored with Marriott !
All major capital cities and business centres should have a starwood property.. but maybe if they are bought by Six Continents that will resolve a few gaps in coverage ! Now there's a subject to warm you all up with.
I'd also add Sandton, Barcelona, Manchester, Hong Kong Island (Kowloon is for tourists),Kathmandu, Bucharest (a four points will do), Copenhagen, Oslo and alternatives to the Luxury Collection locations in Paris, Vienna, Seville, Madrid, Helsinki, Amsterdam (where the only Starwood option is lots of €€€€'s).
Now if Starwood could merge/acquire SolMelia, that would really fill coverage gaps in Spain and South America.

Something other than a Four Points in a poor location in MSP.
Vegas would be nice, but that's not a normal city with a normal economy.

I have to agree with Austin. It was sad to see the downtown one leave. I plan to start booking my friends at either the Downtown Omni, or at The Driskill Hotel.

I like the earlier suggestion that *wood merge with the fabulous Sol Melia group. This would give them instant classy coverage in areas where they virtually have limited or, more often, no presence. Not just in Europe, but also Latin/Central America!
