Will you get credit for a stay if you use a free Friday in conjunction with a paid Saturday?

You will be credited for the paid portion of your stay if the rate is eligible and receive one of the room nights towards status.

To confirm what William said, I had just this situation last month, and everything posted perfectly. Starwood continues to amaze me in the ability of their systems to handle somewhat unusual situations and just have them "work right" the first time, where most other travel providers seem to always have problems in this area.

Well, I just did this combination this weekend in PDX and when I got my bill on Sunday morning, there was no room charge at all! I'm not the kind that could just not say anything, so when I checked out I pointed it out, and they agreed they made a mistake. I'll have to assume they were happy I told them, because I didn't get a thank you. Now, hopefully the points will post especially as this was a 1,000-point booking bonus stay.

It was not a particularly memorable stay. To be honest what it did was bring home to me how well Hilton treats me in terms of upgrades and even something as simple as a free bottle of water. I realized when I got home that I was on an Endless Weekend stay. Wasn't I supposed to get something for that? I guess, as usual, I had to ask for it.

But, what really bothered me is that our duvet cover was stained with what looked suspiciously like blood. We just took the cover off the first night because it was late, but I left a note on the pillow with a tip and requested the stained cover be replaced the next day. Well, what the maid did is simply turn the duvet over so the stain was on the other side! Yuk! I don't think unstained bed linens are too much to ask for.

We had the same thing happen this weekend on the other side of the country at the Essex House. My initial bill under the door on Sunday morning was for $3.40 (the cost of the phone calls during the Free Saturday.) I too didn't want to just walk out - it's not my overarching sense of responsibility, it's just that I know sooner or later the bill will catch up with me - so I had the desk correct it. They took my money for the paid Friday, but Starwood's vaunted system posted 6 *points (and 3 bonus points!) against my account last night, along with the 500 point amenity. As our stay was also made during the 1000 bonus point period, and the paid night should garner at least another 597 Starpoints, it'll likely mean a phone call in a couple of weeks to get the absent points added manually.

I too used to be impressed by the software's ability to track and post points correctly but, perhaps as a consequence of all the various promotions, my recent experiences have been less than stellar. Meals charged to the room, bonus points, amenities and now a stay at different rates have all been recorded incorrectly at first.

Everybody concerned is nice enough when asked to correct it - it's just something that should (once did!) work without manual intervention.

So, it looks like my points posted fine for my paid Saturday--and so fast.

I wanted to repost here as it sounded like I was trashing this property upon re-reading. Not so. The people working at the Portland Westin were all very friendly and extremely helpful, and this hotel also had the "most" Heavenly Shower I have experienced yet (separate shower, good water pressure). The great employees (with the maid as an obvious exception) have been the rule rather than the exception at the Starwoods where I have stayed.
