I was at the Chicago Sheraton Hotel and Towers this past Thursday night and did not have ANY water. I complained and was offered $50 but I was with a group and the manager reversed the entire charge.

My wife had the same problem, but was offered no compensation. A letter to Corporate Services is in the works.

Not to talk down to you guys, but clearly you must not have seen the sign in the bathroom that read:

"Due to the increasing cost of water, in order to be fair to all our our guests, some of whom do not use as much water as others, this hotel now charges $2.00 for the first gallon of water, and and .50 cents for every cup thereafter."

Are you saying they didn't see the slots for them to drop their quarters in next tot the sink, toilet, and shower?

And to think I was merely not happy about a lack of dependable hot water at the Sheraton Anchorage. At least the flusher always worked!

What is it with Chicago hotels and water??

I was at the Hyatt Regency Chicago the weekend before that, and one morning woke up to the sound of loud banging. (like on the pipes). Went to the bathroom, turned on the tap in the tub, and out came the most disgusting black slime, mixed with sand and rocks. Then some air, and steam.

So, the hot water was completely useless, and the cold was only getting a trickle of very dirty looking water.

Complained, they said they'd fix it soon, asked to be moved, they said no can do,(the AMA convention was in town) but they'd set aside another room if they couldn't fix it by the time we got back from lunch. (I haven't showered yet).

Got back from lunch, and now there is NO water. Complained to the Asst Mgr, said they'd move us while we were out shopping and sightseeing.

Got back, asked for keys to the new room, got to the room, this one the water worked fine.

Only one problem. No luggage. Went back to the desk, asked for a key to the old room, said they can't give us the key, but they';d have the bell desk move the bags ASAP.

"ASAP" took a little under an hour, and 3 phone calls.

Complained upon checkout, and they removed the equivalaent of one night's stay from the bill. I was satisfied, but told them I wasn't likely to stay there again...

Should have gone to the Westin!
(The only reason I went to the Hyatt was a great hotels.com rate)

BLECCH!

It is probably those scientists at The University of Chicago trying to cool some new type of atomic bomb they are developing.

I must have been there the same days! When I went to turn on the shower I got a steady stream of dark brown water before it turned clear. (PS though, I like the new adjustable showe heads http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I never thought of being able to spray mud all over myself, adjustably, as a good thing! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
