Starwood Preferred Guest - FREE WEEKENDS?

I am very impressed with Starwood's FREE WEEKENDS promo earlier this year. In fact, I have redeemed 2 weekend certificates already. My question is does Starwood have this promo every year? Or is this the first year that they have had this kind of promo?

They have done it in 2000, 2001 and this year. It has varied from one period to the next, but it's proven to be a wonderful benefit.
