Starwood Preferred Guest - Rate anomaly on SPG.com

I was just booking a room for the next couple of weekends, and noticed something strange. I searched for my dates and there were 11 rates found. On page one there were rates ranging from $139 to $233, with 4 internet only and 2 endless weekend. I clicked next to bring up the 5 remaining rates, which ranged from $215 to $379, with 3 endless weekend and 2 rack rates. When I clicked on the previous button, the first page of rates had changed! Now there are 4 endless weekend and 2 internet only rates on the first page with a range of $109 to $205. It also inserts these new rates if I rearrange the list. Anyone have any idea why all available rates are not being shown when first selected?

Must be Starwood's yield management system that is giving you a rate based on the availability.

I've learned hotel rates are pretty fluid with a number of the companies with more advanced systems, much like the airlines are. Have you ever called for an airline fare, then called back to book it and find that it's disappeared?

Maybe you just happened to access the page right when they were changing/adding rates?

Strange indeed, but I also saw a strange rate change yesterday as I was booking a room at the Sheraton Montreal. One endless weekend rate was 199 CAD I believe, but when I clicked on "rate details" it came up as 219 CAD. Out of curiosity, I checked a few more times over the next half hour and this happened each time. Not that big of a deal, but it did catch me off guard.

The web rate schedule is not sufficiently sophisticated to cover long stays.

On the web to book Wed to following Fri stay,I have booked:

Wed 179
Thurs to Sat 129 weekend special
Sun to Wed 129 endless something special
Thurs 129 weekend special.

Book Wed to following Fri, and it is 179.
Book the Sun thru Fri, 179, and so forth.

Don't know what happens if I were to book the front Sun-Thurs, which should be at 129, then cancel the Sun-Wed nights.
