Starwood Preferred Guest - ID enough for Award stay

I have a 2 night award stay coming up in next week . Do i just have to show an ID when i check in ?

A credit card will be needed, otherwise the ID will just be whether or not the hotel generally asks for it. Internationally, a passport most likely, domestic, probably nothing (but more and more have been asking). Bring your faxed or emailed confirmation just to be sure the hotel properly has the award info.

Thanks...I am planning to take the email confirmation. At the bottom of the email it states..
"*spg Clubaward - Hotel Will Receive Faxed Award".
Which I guess means I dont have to carry any proof of award but just the email confirmation would do....

There is a problem especially with free weekends where sometimes upon checkout the property does not have a record that you are using an award. When this happens, the hotel bill will show the rate that presumably SPG pays the hotell for your award, which is kind of interesting to look at. Anyway, lately, I try to print out especially the email that lists the "award number" so that I can present this to the hotel if needed.
