Starwood Preferred Guest - 50% Elite bounus??

Hi all,
Just checked my online statement (Yes the web site is definitley runnig faster) & have spotted a +596 points listed as "SPG Elite 50% Bonus"
I've just completed a stay at W - The Court and earned +1,192 for that. Is the Elite bonus because I'm gold?
Can anyone explain.

By the way, in case anyone is interested, asked at check in if they had any gold upgrades available and was told "We've upgraded you to a suite sir" - The room was the biggest I've had at any W hotel - Bigger than my appartment!

Yes.

All SPG members get 2 points for every dollar spent. Gold and Plats get an additional 1 point. That's the 50% "elite" bonus you saw.

I'm glad you were treated well at the W Court. They're known for treating Golds as good as Platinums. A very good hotel, indeed.
