Punki and I just spent three days in a row at 3 separate Westins; Chicago Michigan Ave, SFO Airport and St. Francis. The first two had the new showers with double head and curved shower rod. The two heads enable you to wash your hair in two places at the same time. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif However, I would suggest that they add a shut-off on both nozzles so that you could turn off the water while soaping up your bode to conserve water.
The curved rod extends over the outside of the tub, and provides alot more room inside the tub for moving around without having the shower curtain blowing into you.

The room in the St Francis towers had a king bed, but we didn't get the suite upgrade http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif. The bath had the extended ledge behind, so maybe the hotel is waiting on those rooms.

Aside from that, there was a great dance band playing in the lobby bar at the St. Francis! Only problem was the size of the small dance floor. We had to keep dancing to save our place on the floor. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

They do. It's called the main faucet. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Was that Bob Dalpe and the Rose Crown Trio? That band is one of my favorite parts of the St. Francis. Bob does the "Sounds of Sinatra," and does it very well, I might add.

The trouble with shutting off the main faucet is that you'll lose that perfect spot you've found in the one-millimeter window between Arctic Ocean and Surface of the Sun.

I experienced the HEavenly Shower for the first time last fall at the Westin Fairfax in DC. It was indeed heavenly...although I did wish that they had a bit more pressure.

On my way out the door, I was almost tempted to ask whether they sell the shower heads through the catalog.

I agree!

If the Heavenly Bath must have a double-headed shower and a curved shower rod, what does that make of the shower at the Westin Waltham which has the curved rod with a single-headed shower? A Purgatory Bath?

A less expensive upgrade in the bath facilities.

In my experience, the shower heads do have a shut-off. There is the little button on the neck of the shower head. I know this b/c I always turn one of them off b/c there is not enough pressure for me with both of the shower heads spitting out water.

After an exhaustive search for the best showerhead for my shower, I've decided the 12" diameter rainfall one mounted on the ceiling like they have at the Westin Sydney is the best. Anything smaller doesn't cut it. (And you can buy them in New Zealand much cheaper than you can in the states.)

OT for Hunki: You would love Auckland, BTW. So many sailing stores; so cheap! We almost needed a container to bring home all the stuff we bought.

The two showers that I experienced had the shut-off button on the bottom shower head only. I guess that it's so you can get good pressure when you're washing your top hair. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Otherwise, with both going, it feels like a nice rain.

BradC "Was that Bob Dalpe and the Rose Crown Trio? " I don't know, does he wear a wide brim hat while he sings? Whoever it was, they played really danceable swing music.

Letiole I'm trying to figure out how I can get a berth on some friends' 53' ketch presently moored somewhere around Brisbane and are going back to NZ for the America's Cup. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Hunki: That would be really cool. I asked Sunsail when we dropped off our boat in Auckland if they still had charters available during the Cup and they did! Given the number of boats on the water then though Rod thinks watching from a boat that's someone else's responsibility would be the better way to go. We had great fun watching the cup boats out practicing a couple of weeks ago. Prada even waved first - very cool. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

The Heavenly Shower is a wonderful idea. Unfortunately, the water pressure is so low it renders the fixture nearly useless. Now if only I could find that old thread detailing how to make a water-saving showerhead into a water-using showerhead...

You sailed your boat to NZ? Or you crewed on a big boat?

Is there anywhere that I can buy the double head shower? I've used it at the SFO Westin and love it!

Goodness no! We did a bareboat charter - a Beneteau 33 - from Sunsail for five nights. We did go to a cruiser bar on one of the islands there and they told us three guys were in the week before who sailed from San Francisco to Auckland in a 27' boat. Not my idea of fun - no crossings in anything less than a Santa Cruz 50 with a nicely stocked wine cellar for me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Try the single head orriginal chrome Speakman shower head @ $65ish. Speakman makes the plastic dual "heavenly" showerhead, but IMHO it can't beat the orriginal... even two of them. BTW, the good old chrome one is what they use at the St Regis and it is beyond heavenly (make sure you take out the flow restrictor though... if you can stand the guilt).

I personally am waiting for the heavenly toilet. The one with the computer dataport and laptop table. I am sure it will be a great hit.

Tfong007,

You can find the 'Heavenly Toilet' at the Westin Tokyo in any of the Executive rooms. Sit down on the heated seat and the lightly scented airflow begins. The computer controls are on your right allowing you to fully personalise the, umm, personal aspects of finishing up the task at hand....

MichSwiss

ps. I'll take the 'Rainfall' shower heads at the Westins in Sydney and Melbourne any day over the two headed variety I found in Seattle.

Ahh yes! I kinda noticed the extra 'options'... needless to say I didn't exactly experiment with it! (well, beyond the heater option which was nice)

Any word on where I may purchase one of these lovely dual-headed Speakmans? I couldn't find it on Westin's Heavenly Products webpage.

Any reliable plumbing store should stock them or be able to order them. Also, you can find them online searching for "Speakman".

William - this is turning into a plumbing special... so a bit of trivia (from one of the Speakman's supplier website)...

"By U.S. law all showerheads sold in the United States may only deliver a maximum of 2.5 Gallons Per Minute."

Amazing! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Correct...that's why it is important to ask the salesman how to remove the flow restrictor.

And SPG gets away with it, each head delivers 2.5 gallons per minute, for a total of 5.

Trivia? They decided for this shower head when they installed their tester heads in the executive workout room, and this was the one that was stolen!

Removing the flow restrictor is very easy and should be pretty obvious. The bigger problem is the low-flush toilets were stuck buying. I hear on states that border Canada it's pretty popular to smuggle in decent toilets.

While I can find many of the single headed Speakman's quite easily, I can't seem to find the dual-headed Speakman anywhere, not even on the Speakman website. So if anybody happens to have the link, I would be eternally grateful (or at least everytime I showered) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

TravelTheWorld,

Is this the shower head that you are talking about? (The picture is at the bottom of the page.)
http://magazines.ivillage.com/goodhousekeeping/myhome/decorate/articles/0,12873,284548_420967,00.html

The 'model' for that Showerhead is "Speakman Anystream 2000 Twin-Head Shower" but I couldn't find any other sites that had information on it.

You're right, even the Speakman website (http://www.speakmancompany.com) doesn't list that showerhead. I called up the Speakman Sales Rep for Arizona and he said they have the twin head shower and referred to it as the "s2222" and offered it to me for $75 (he mentioned the list was $99) and said that included installation.

I'd try calling the Speakman Sales Rep for your area (listed on the Speakman site) and hopefully they can find it for you. Keep us updated http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Hope this helps,

Billy Bandit
