I would like to hear about any recent stay at Yokohama Bay Sheraton. Stuff like friendly staff, easy to upgrade, use of tower lounge, etc. I am platinum SPG. Thanks.

My 2 previous stays were upgraded to the tower rooms, one room with a great view of the bay, the other with a great view of buildings http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The location is convenient to Yokohama train station, about a 5 minute walk. Access to Yokohama from Narita is accessable by train, either Narita Express, Kehin kyuko, or other JR trains, or by the airport limousine bus. Have a great stay! sxchan Oct 12, 01, 12:51 pm If you get upgraded to towers level, are you able to use the tower lounge? How was the lounge? winston-LT5 Oct 12, 01, 1:34 pm You'll like it. We were upgraded to a Tower room as a Plat (on a free weekend!), with access to the club lounge. It served a superb continental breakfast, and had a good selection of reading material, both Japanese and English. Rooms was on the small side (and had 2 twin beds), but it had a view and was nicely appointed. The bathroom had a separate shower. The lobby is beautiful and the resturants very nice (but expensive). All in all, on the level of a top-notch Westin, much nicer than the typical stateside Sheraton. The staff is outstanding and gracious in the usual Japanese manner. You can walk to Yokohama station (best shopping in Yokohama, and you can find cheaper eats) without ever setting foot outdoors. orix Oct 12, 01, 5:03 pm <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Originally posted by sxchan: If you get upgraded to towers level, are you able to use the tower lounge? Located on the 26th & 27th floor, the tower rooms are nice, and the lounge is located on the 26th. There is a staircase from the 27th floor which accesses the 26th floor and the lounge. Check-in and check-out is also done at the tower lounge enterance. monahos Apr 15, 02, 5:01 pm Sorry to bring back this thread. The Yokohama Sheraton has some attractive rates on its many singles, whose description on the Starwood site is a very forbidding 'Japanese business room style'. Could I, as an SPG Gold, expect to be upgraded to at least a normal double, or would it be safer to pay more in order not to end up in the equivalent of a Japanese business hotel room, complete with one piece molded bathroom and coin-operated TV http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ? orix Apr 16, 02, 2:46 am There is a chance for an upgrade, depending on how full the hotel is. Another option is to book at the low rate, and when you get to the hotel, check out the room and see if it is up to your standards. If you feel it is too small, you can ask to "pay to upgrade" to a larger room. monahos Jun 3, 02, 3:11 am I can report that the single rooms at this property are perfectly nice, with high quality furnishings and equipment (including a nifty top-loading safe, toilet with bidet, closet with motion-sensing light, good lighting). The bed is about 140cm wide, and these single rooms are indeed sold for two people on the hotel's Japanese website. My room only had amenities for one though. No upgrades for SPG Gold, but the hotel did look fairly full. They had no rooms ready at 1pm (official check-in time 2pm), at least for a lowly Gold. Looking at the floorplan, this hotel had an unusually high number of singles, probably catering to the Japanese business traveller. |
