Starwood Preferred Guest - Sheraton Worldwide Directory
I have the 2000 and 2001 copies of the Sheraton Worldwide Directory, and find them to be very useful.
I was amazed that my Plat. Concierge didn't have a copy, had never seen one, and wasn't able to get one in TX... (They are abundant in Sheraton hotels in Latin America, so I sent her a copy.)
Has anyone seen a 2002 version ???
(If so, where can I get one?)

Not yet. But not surprised about the res people not having copies. We have now become so computer-screen oriented that paper directories are considered passée. Which is a shame. No sighting of any new editions, either the Sheraton/Four Points/St Regis/Luxury Collection, or the smaller Westin/W edition. [Nor the smaller mini-pocket editions, except for the W one which was posted to me last fall.]

I would be real surprised if we see a 2002 directory. They can't be cheap and with cutbacks and the move to the internet, I see these going out the window.
I hope I am wrong, though. I really enjoy and use them.
I really enjoy them as well. As much as I use the Internet, I still turn to my Sheraton or Westin paper directory first when I am looking for hotels in a city. I find flipping open the book a lot easier and faster than having to log onto the Internet, and then navigate the Starwood site, which can often be slow on a dial-up connection.

I agree. The book is very helpful especially while traveling. Hopefully a new 2002 edition will be available soon.

The Worldwide Directory is the only place I can quickly determine if a Starwood hotel has a courtesy airport shuttle (although the info may be out of date). I don't like having to call a Platinum concierge for that info. Better yet, add the airport shuttle info to the web site.

William,
Can you give us any idea if A)There will be any printed, and B)Can we obtain them outside of visiting one of the hotels in the chain?
Thanks and gook luck to the Longhorns!

Thanks, PLangian. I'm working on this already, but it may be another victim of 9/11.

Hi,
Just stayed at the Sheraton Sunnyvale, and to my pleasant surprise there was a 2002 edition of the directory...Luis at the front desk informed me that it just came out...BTW, stay was very nice...good pool and hot tub...Club Level, but coupons for breakfast since Club Lounge is closed weekends.

Yes, the new directories are available at most participating properties. Also, later this year, we are going to add a downloadable .PDF file to the web sites that will contain the same information as the printed version.

The 2002 Guide was available at the Sheraton Tempe Airport last week. They were in the club lounge. Didn't see them in the room or anywhere else.

Love it! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
As much as I appreciate the general ease of using the paper version while I'm at home, I do much of my travel planning while on the road. And I appreciate companies that produce PDF versions of their published materials, so I don't have to lug around or search for a printed version everywhere I travel.
'Tis right on the laptop if I need it!

Hmmm... they were inside the rooms at that hotel during the week of 14 May. I grabbed one since I don't see them that often at other hotels.
Got the 2002 Guide at the Sheraton Büsingpalais today http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif . I still prefer printed editions of hotel directories, airline timetables, etc.
Unfortunately, the Sheraton Montevideo only has the 2001 version... I'll be on the lookout in S. America but have a feeling that it will be a while until they have it down here.

Just picked up a copy of the new STARWOOD directory for 2002 at the Vienna Imperial Luxury Collection this past weekend. Note that this year's version covers ALL STARWOOD brands, and not just the SHERATON/FOUR POINTS as contained in the old, large blue covered editions, and the smaller WESTIN ones. Did not find the 2002 edition at the Westin Rotterdam earlier in the week, or the Sheraton Schipol the other night. Very handy reference, with two listings on each page, a photo of the property and map with each listing entry, all arranged by brand, then geographically.
