Starwood Preferred Guest - Starwood Newbie question...

I have not yet signed up for the Starwood frequent program, but will be doing so soon.

How long does it take for membership to be granted in the program ? I will be staying in a Sheraton hotel in Germany the beginning of June and would like to be able to count that stay towards my new membership in the Starwood program?

I am Gold in HHonors and Faimont Hotels, so it is going to be hard to start all over again with no upgrades to executive floor room, or concerige level priviledges ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

If you sign up online or call the SPG Customer Service, your account can be setup pretty much immediately.

Also, any stay(s) you may have had up to 30 days previous to your becoming a member can be posted to your account by sending your hotel bill to Program Services at 512-836-4002.
