I read a lot of the previous treads on this topic. The consensus seems to be that the Dolphin is better. I am SPG platinum, hopefully I can get a room with a Epcot resort view with a balcony with access the the lounge. I was able to get a $174 rate this summer. Any further advice will be appreciated.

You might consider using the miles and points awards, if price is your primary concern.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I prefer the Swan.

Both are awesome hotels, but I think the Swan is a little more fancy, if that is the proper word. Either way. The hotels are so close to Epcot and also the Boardwalk Hotel with the Altantic City Replica Boardwalk, great for the evenings. Also, quick boat ride to MGM. It is a nice walk to Epcot, and you get to swing by the Yacht and Beach Club, just a long walk.

The views will primarily be of Epcot or lake. But I think other views are nice of rest of property and maybe even some other Disney attractions.

How many days are you going? It should be a great vacation!!! I am going up again in June, for a wedding, and am really looking forward to it. But staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge this time, Florida Resident discount, $119 a night. Can't beat it.

How are you getting the Florida rate from Seattle, (wink, wink) Actually I'm going for a work conference in late July for 4 days. Price isn't a large consideration. I was also there last week, I think summer will be a little more humid. But I'm looking forward to it.

I was thinking, having been to the Atlantic City boardwalk, that there is no correlation between it and Disney's boardwalk http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

As an old Jersey beach girl myself, I have to agree, despite all the AC memorabilia around the Boardwalk hotel (I found a picture of my grandfather in that hotel!).

As for Dolphin vs. Swan, I slightly prefer the Swan, if only for the beds, but really like both. Can't beat the location at that price.. When we stay, we always either book or request an upgrade to "Resort View with Balcony", as these are my favorite rooms (I much prefer them over the more expensive Concierge Level rooms). On Easter Sunday, we were able to confirm a rate of $239, so you should be able to do better. If its REALLY important to you, book that specific room type and ask NOT to be upgraded.. I think you automatically get lounge access anyway, and it's just a matter of going to the lobby to change elevators to the lounge.. I find the restaurants pretty good, but do try the Flying Fish Cafe on the boardwalk; it's one of my favorites.. There are so many great rests on WDW property that one could eat VERY well for weeks..

Have a great time (I am jealous!)

They have taken away lounge access for Gold members. I have been staying there 2 to 3 times a year as I am a Disney annual pass holder.

In April I had to discuss this reduction with the manager who then said they would grant me access this one last time.

This last week when I was in Orlando I did not stay at the Dolphin. I think it is cheap that they took away lounge access.

I am voting with my dollars!
