I am not sure if it has anything to do with not having the card yet, but so far I haven't received even one suite upgrade after 11 stays this year

Maybe the properties have been fully booked. Your number and status are on file when room assignments are set up, so having a card is quite irrelevant. In fact, every time I present my card at check in, the clerk waves it away saying my number is already in the system. [Except in Singapore where they go through a very carefully choreographed process of honouring the card and handing it back in a very particular two-handed fashion displaying great reverance, but no suite upgrade.] Not sure why you posted this as a new thread considering your topic is being covered in at least two other current threads, and the actual content [suite upgrades for Plats] in about a dozen other active threads. Bigshaker Mar 19, 02, 9:40 am Received mine the first week of March. Nothing like getting it late since I was on a trip that week! No problems at the hotels showing my old card since the old and new cards look exactly the same. PHL Mar 19, 02, 12:07 pm I haven't carried my card on me in over a year, despite about 140 nights since last January. But I also make all my reservations via the web and insure my number is in the record. Usually to confirm that my status is recognized, I just ask at the desk if they have my Platinum number in the record, and they always reply with a "yes", and sometimes with a "yes, and we have a suite upgrade held for you". Come to think of it, I also don't carry my airline membership card, nor do I flash my frequent traveller credentials for the world to see with bag tags. I guess I like to go for the 'unassuming, inconspicuous' look. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
