Just checked out of the Wall Centre in Vancouver and had a pleasant stays, nice Club Floor upgrade, albeit normal room [no complaint though]. It was a last minute trip and I noticed AC's weekly Wednesday webspecial notice had a link to Starwood, providing special weekend rates. I used the link and got to the Starwood site, made my booking as usual, and everything was fine with check-in yesterday, selection of Platinum benefit, etc.
However, upon checking out I was told that because this was a prepaid stay -- yes, the booking indicated there was no refund on the first night and it would be charged to my credit card -- I would only get a folio/bill for my miscellaneous charges. They could not print me a receipt folio for the room itself because, although it was in their system, it was billed to a third party.
I found this odd, as in the past when I had used Starwood's web rates, even the prepaid ones, for stays at European properties, I was billed as normal at check-out.
Has this happened to anyone else? I called the Platinum desk and they are still checking and are supposed to call me back [2-hours now and no call]. The agent had no idea why I would not get a statement. Nor could she say if I would get Starpoints for the stay. It was definitely not a Priceline or that odd look-a-like site people have posted about before. The confirmation came in an email from sheraton@sheraton.com, so it definitely was Starwood's booking engine.
I'm a bit perplexed.
Any clarification on this you can give, William, would help me and perhaps others who book using this rate and web mechanism.
Thanks.
