I want the points and stay credit and my friend wanted the tax/travel credit from her company. Wonder if this is possible and if the following is the right procedure?
Make reservation under my name and SPG number. Register both our names during check in. My friend pays by her credit card during check out. (So that her name will be on the hotel bill)

Sounds good to me.
If the receptionist asks her where DCW is, she should just say, 'S/He'll be in later.'

DCW, if your friend pays with her credit card, you will not get credit for the stay, unless the hotel posts it by mistake.
The room must be registered in your name and you must personally settle all charges associated with them upon checkout in order to receive Starpoints and stay credit.
