Hi,

I have bene to this hotel before but not with any Starwood status. What can I expect there as a Platinum Preferred Guest?

Are there any suites at this hotel?

Thanks,
Richard

Rooms are okay. I was upgraded to an oversized 'studio' suite once. You might be more pleased with the Westin 2 blocks away.

Many suites and a decent club lounge. I have always gotten a club suite. Views facing the Charles River are great. The concierge service, however, is quite poor.

As a PLT, I get upgraded almost all the time. This is the biggest convention hotel in the city, and that will tell you a lot about the ambiance. It also means they are used to seeing PLTs, and they'll have your room pre-blocked with the new amenity choice card already in your key folder.

Even if a big conference takes away all the upgrade rooms, they'll give you a room key with a sticker that lets you use the club lounge. There really is no concierge in that lounge who is at all useful except as a waitress.

All the rooms have new Sheraton beds. There are many suites, and when you get one they will be larger than what you would get in the Westin nearby (Westin has mostly junior suites -- oversized corner rooms with a sofa), and usually will be true multi-room suites. That said, I don't think the room designs in the Sheraton are as good as the Westin -- too many odd spaces, badly-placed TVs, and ornate chandeliers. I think they've tried hard to update the place, but maybe they didn't want to knock down interior walls.

One other problem with this and other Sheratons -- The TV signal, the TV set picture focus, and the TV sound are all low quality. I notice things like TVs and beat-up furniture in suites where they have tried to pinch pennies in their remodelling. I've never seen that at a Westin.
