Starwood Preferred Guest - Why is Starwood so cheap?
I stayed at a starwood on an award where there was a letter on the desk that said everyone gets complimentary breakfast. As I exited the restuarant, they told me that my award does not include free breakfast. Why is Starwood so cheap?

It would help if you identified the property. It's much more useful to other FlyerTalkers who can either point out similiar, or different, experiences.
I've stayed at the Chicago 4 Points in Oakbrook. Got complimentary breakfast on an award. It was a terrific property, considering price and breakfast and Platinum suite upgrade.

clublounger is right. If 'ABC property' does not offer you complimentary breakfast, why would you blast Starwood? What does Starwood have to do with it?
I've stayed at many properties where I have received not only the regular benefits offered to hotel guests during complimentary stays but sometimes even more than I deserved.
Do I get 100% of what's been promised? No. But you should have dealt with it with the Front Desk Manager. If the complimentary breakfast was clearly posted and offered to all guests, without exception, than they could've removed the charge or made some alternate arrangements.

Perhaps the title of this topic is not very accurate because it does kind of put blame on the entire chain (by calling Starwood cheap, instead of 'X' hotel is cheap). Nonetheless, the original poster does have a point becuase it is a hotel part of the Starwood chain. It's like one soldier in the U.S. army committed a serious crime in Japan, it's the individual's fault, yet it definitely hurts the U.S. military's image as a whole.
