I generated reservation at Sheraton Calgary Eau Claire under my SPGP number. My signifcant other (with different last name) checked in, I arrived later and left early, my significant other checked out and paid by CC......no points posted.

How does one overcome this?

jakpot, in order to receive Starpoints for your stay, you must both pay and stay. This means that not only must the room be registered in your name, you must stay in the room and personally settle all charges upon check-out. I would sent an email to Starwood Preferred Guest and ask that an exception be made, but please understand that there is no guarantee that it will be granted.

Next time, I suggest paying with your credit card and checking out when you leave. I am sure that the hotel can arrange for your significant other to stay until check-out time, but that would have to be up to them as to how or if this can be done.

either by video checkout, or by dropping off the final bill in the box at the counter. The front desk will mail you a copy of your settled bill. Sure, it'll be wrong, but you can fight about that over the phone over the next few weeks. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Oh, of course, if you want the points credited to YOU, you should change the credit card that the room is charged to AS SOON AS you arrive at the hotel, if you're the second to arrive.

I've never had a problem with checking out early and leaving someone (not a stranger, OF COURSE!) in the room until checkout time. But, the above suggestion removes the concern.

Aloha

edited for poor emoticon execution.....
