Starwood Preferred Guest - Sheraton Suites Pomona CA (Great)

Last night I stayed at the Sheraton Suites in Pomona CA. It's about 15 minutes west of ONT, or 1 hour east of LAX.
I've stayed here before and STILL like it. They even gave the lowly Preferred Guest a breakfast coupon!
And I saw a Priceline receipt on the front desk. (Wish I would have known). This property is a gem. I suggest a visit.
Dan
It is a nice place, but when the wind blows just right, better stay indoors. The smell from the Chino dairy farms is legendary and can sometimes make the air flammable there.
I should know. I live on the other side of that small hill you see just West of the hotel.

Hey thanks for the non call that you will be in the LA area Dan! If I remember right, it is your turn to buy. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Just stayed at this hotel last week. Recently finished a major renovation, the rooms and the common areas are very, very nice. I wish every Sheraton was like this! All rooms are suites decorated in earth tones with a sweet sleeper bed and a seperate living room seperated by sliding doors. The location isn't ideal and there isn't much around the hotel but I will stay there again when I have to be in the Pomona area.

Agree. Even though I live on the other side of the hill from this hotel, I do stay there 2 or 3 times a year for various reasons and events.
It was getting pretty tired with really old decor, but after the refurb it's really shining again. Here's some very recent photos of a refurbed room:

Staff here has always been great and continues to be. The bar is lots of fun with generous pours from the bartenders. :)
DENPremEx...when I was there about 11 days ago they were still working on the Restaurant and were using convention space as a temporary restaurant. Had they finished the refurb yet when you were just there?

I just spent the weekend there and agree that the suites are very nicely furnished and decorated. I like the muted tones and the marble counter in the (huge) bathroom/vanity area. The staff were pleasant. I got in late last night and really needed to get unwired (early flight this morning out of LAX) and asked the desk clerk if he had access to any herbal teas. 15 minutes later housekeeping brought up 3 lemon tea bags. I was very appreciative.
Free bottled water, fat Sunday L.A. Times on my doorstep yesterday morning, tasty complimentary breakfast daily, etc. I'd stay again except that it's very far from everything. I have family in Yucaipa/Calimesa and friends in downtown L.A. and decided next time I'd just stay in L.A. proper because I had to drive 30 miles to see anyone. Definitely not the hotel's fault!
The restaurants and common areas are still being worked on, but the guest rooms are complete as far as I know. The hotel is rather ugly from the outside.

Is there a particular reason you'd like to stay there? There are quite a few other properties closeby....

A couple of small things that added up to a 'push to Pomona'. Microwave ovens. (Important to me.) 24-hour fitness center. (Critical) Free (?) parking is nice, since no onr reimburses me. Rates and availability were another factor.
...but I'm open to suggestions.
we stayed there last xmas, and it was very nice. we got two breakfast coupons as Gold.
all rooms are suites, so it's quite large. and the rate is very good. you can also do C&P, and it's a good deal at cat3.
the location is a bit remote. but the suite is great if you have kids.
the gym is very small though.

Thanks. I always worry when the website doesn't show pictures of the gym. I think I'll keep looking.
