View Full Version : When is a stay not a stay?

Working my way to Starwood Pltm was surprised to find out after I presented my AA card at the hotel check in for direct credit to my AA account that my stay does not count as either a "stay" or "nights stayed" for Starwood Platinum qualification. I can understand (though disagree) about no double dipping ... but realy. Even if it is buried in the rules (and I don't remember seeing it) the logic escapes.

Lurker?

You may disagree with the rule, but it's hardly a secret:

Sorry to bother ... I did search and did not find the (three?) posts.

It's surprising but has been true forever. If you want Starwood status you've got to use the Starwood program, not the airline programs.
