Starwood Preferred Guest - Corporate Preferred?

View Full Version : Corporate Preferred?

I am a USAir Gold Preferred and a Starwood regular preferred. I stayed about 20 nights in 2000, and ZERO nights thus far in 2001. I have 8000 or so starpoints, not very many..

However, I see in my USAir Gold Preferred kit that I can be "instantly upgraded" to "Corporate Preferred" via their USAir SPG enrollment.

First of all, what is "Corporate Preferred" ? Is it REAL? Or is it just "preferred?"

I'm wondering if it is worth it to abandon my old SPG account and sign up for a new one under this promo. I am likely to stay a dozen nights or so over the rest of the year, so I am unlikely to get any significant status that way.

However, travel will likely pickup again for me next year and I would like status if I can get it.. (like all of us..)

Any ideas you have are appreciated.

Thank you, Upgrade Me! Too bad my search of "corporate preferred" came up empty!

Good thing you had your eyes peeled.

thanks again

well I called them today and gave them the promotion code. She quickly changed my status to "corporate preferred."

I highly doubt I'll notice any difference in treatment or upgrades, would you all concur?

Unless the program has changed recently here is what you can expect:

As far as upgrades you have the same status as Gold. That generally means you get a room on a high floor or maybe sometimes a corner room. Instead of a 50% point bonus you get threshold bonuses of 1000 points after the 5th and 10th stay.

I've gotten a 2000 point threshold bonus after 5th stay.

I just made Gold, so I'll pay careful attention to my treatment now versus CP.
