Hi:
I'm having a difficult time deciding between W Tuscany and W the Court. Tuscany offers larger rooms (500 sq ft) at $255, while the Court (400 sq ft) is $229. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

I'm cheap, so an additional 100 square feet doesn't seem worth it to me. Besides, the room sizes in these old hotels vary. I think the Court has more suites, so an upgrade possibility might be better.
The hotels are roughly twins, with just an Emissary to a small country in between them. A good choice.
Between the two, I'd largely pick by price. I wouldn't put much stock in the specific room descriptions, especially if you are elite and will upgraded anyway.
Both are very nice and conveniently located. (In terms of proximity to transit -- there's not a whole lot in the immediate vicinity.)
I was disappointed to find on my last visit that what I hoped would be my perfect room doesn't exist. On the visit prior, I'd stayed in 1615, a suite on the top floor. I looked out the window and saw that the floor immediately below had a huge terrace.
Figured I'd ask for 1515 on this visit. Turns out that it's the personal residence of the area director for Ws in New York. What a nice perk!
A related question - which NYC W would you pick for a free weekend?
PG- As was noted, these two, the Court & Tuscany are considered sister hotels, and are roughly equivalent, IMHO, as well as essentially just next door to one another. I'd go to either over the "W" NY just for the larger rooms, but might also be tempted at the "W" Union Square as well! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
W Hotels converted the historic Guardian Life building in New York into a 270-room boutique property. This hotel is near Manhattan's Union Square Park and the "Silicon Alley" neighborhood if interested.

Union Square is turning out to be "the best" W in the city, but it tends to be a very subjective thing, as you can see from these posts. Stayed at The Tuscany back in March and was very satisfied with the size of room, and nice view I had of the Crysler Buidling. Also treated with a welcome amenity of a box of fine chocolates and the W Duck, and I am only Gold. It is a short two or three building walk east to the Court where the restaurant is located, so this may be a minor or major irritant if you plan to have breakfast "at the hotel". I enjoy the walk, and it was amusing to watch the waiters occasionally carrying a tray of room service from The Court over to The Tuscany along 39th Street. As someone who uses public transit to get around in Manhatten, both a central to main bus routes uptown, and a short stroll up to 42nd Street and Grand Central Station for subway and other connections.
I realize this doesn't help with your decision. Have you thought about the Sheraton Russell around the corner on Park Avenue?

What's the "W Duck"?
Thanks for the information http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

A "W Duck" is a small yellow rubber duck branded on its chest with a large letter "W" and the words: "New York, The Court & The Tuscany". Much like the rubber duckie featured on Sesame Street.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump. I am planning on staying a weekend in July at a W in New York under the Z3H promotion. Was wondering which is a better room - a spectacular in the Court or a spectacular in the Tuscany? I am only Corporate Preferred and thus not eligible for Plat upgrades. I heard that the Court recently was renovated and was wondering whether this is true...
PS. I stayed in the W Tuscany once and thus have a reasonable idea of the rooms, but want to know more about the Court.

A spectacular room is larger in Tuscany.. As I see you a Gold member, you might be upgraded to Spectacular in both hotels if you book the cheapest!!
And always check the total estimated price before booking if you want to compare the room rate since Court charges more for TAX & FEE
