Thanks for the info, T-wiz!
Unfortunately, however, I just got off the phone (called the number above), and Mike (customer service rep) said that although many people had called about that promotion today, they had received no data about it from the marketing department, and were currently unable to sign up members for it.
Too bad, as I'm staying at the W Chicago Centre for the weekend, and wouldn't mind the points http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif ... Sounds like a task for the Lurker?
(T-wiz, does the letter say anything about whether or not you get the bonus if you're staying at the W's as "free weekends"?)

Strange they don't know anything seeing as it says the promo started almost a month ago.
That's absolutely everything it says on the promo. But I doubt you get the bonus on a free stay.
I just registered for it. Didn't sound familiar to the CSR at first, but she was able to look it up. Cool.

I am checking on this, but it sounds like a promotion where the sweep will occur at the end. If this is so, and I am 99% sure it is, this means that any stay from June 1 to August 31, 2001 will be automatically picked up regardless of when you register as long as it is before the promotion end date.
I had no trouble placing 'AW' on a test account so I have no idea what Michael's or anyone else's problem may have been. More on this as it develops.
andersja, no Preferred (free) Night Award stay or any other free night is going to be a qualifier for one of our promotions...ever. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

William,
I just stayed at the W San Francisco few days ago but I didn't register (b/c I didn't know it). Can I still get the 6000 bonus if I stay in two other W hotels before the end of August? Can you please clarify, I am a bit confused.
Thanks

according to the above.. you should get your 6000 points if you stay 2 more times.
good luck
I registered yesterday with the code AW and the agent had no problem doing it. She informed me that it is retroactive(since I stayed at the W New York 2 weeks ago), and that all bonuses will be credited either monthly or at the end of the promotion.

While I was surprised NOT to see something prohibiting it, there was NOTHING on the offer saying "other restrictions apply" or anything. Only "see back for details." On the back, there was NOTHING prohibiting free stays from counting toward this promo...Just TRY the hotels with a stay, two or three, and you qualify...

aflyer, you just said it. but the thing is free stays dont count as a stay. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
I red something about Hilton and Hyatt are now allowing free stays to count as a stay. i hope Starwood will follow.
