Starwood Preferred Guest - $25.00 TO "BUY" GOLD BUT EARNED IT!!

I have had a Starwood Gold Card every year since the Starwood program began. Before that, I had a Sheraton Gold Card every year since it's inception. Last year, I did not have many stays. However, in September or October, I can swear I received an offer; I was told that if I stay at any Starwood property just three more times in 2000, that I would get Gold for another year. I made it a point to stay three more times and received credit for those stays too.

I just spoke with Starwood to find out why my new Gold Card hasn't arrived. The rep said "unfortunately, you have to pay $25.00 to get a new Gold Card because you didn't stay enough times." !!!

Does anyone else remember receiving such an offer as I did? It was either a letter or was one of those little blurbs on my statement. I always save those things in case of a problem. But I moved and now cannot find it anywhere. Thanks!

Neal, this was a promotion that ran from September 15, 2000 to December 31, 2000. It required you to have 3 stays during this time period to retain your Gold elite status past your renewal date of June 30, 2001. I count four stays during the promotion period, so I have upgraded your account to the Gold elite level for another year.
