Hoyt Harper:
"Give me another week, but I'll call you first!"

Well, it's been a week (okay, in a few hours)

I know this seems anxious, but I really want to hear about the IMPROVEMENTS on the Sheraton Optima.

We're all LISTENING......

clublounger,

Direct from Mr. Harper regarding the soon-to-be-released co-branded credit card:

"You guys are tough. I told you that I'd share the details with Webflyer first and I always keep my promises, as long as I'm reminded what they are. It's not like we're granting pardons here, though for the right price, I'll let the message board finalize the deal. Any takers? Again, I promise to get back to you within the next couple of weeks and that you will be quite pleased with the new card."

Starwood Lurker - you come through again!! Thanks. Now, just be prepared to go back to Mr. Harper with our comments - should it turn out that existing cardholders will have to pay a fee (at least after the first year). http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

There are a few people who have admitted to transgressions on this board for which they might well appreciate pardons. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I'm sure most FlyerTalkers would prefer to keep the card the way it is...with NO FEE!

The features that the card has now make it THE MOST POPULAR CARD ON FLYERTALK!!!

That is a ringing endorsement. Now if you go messing around with it.....well then you're probably going to make it not as desirable.

I would say if there IS going to be a fee, then you guys should offset that fee with increased benefits. That means tangible benefits, not some esoteric, little used benefits.

C'mon FlyerTalkers, help me out. What benefits could make this card better even if there was a fee?

It's usually the ARROGANCE of executives that cause the future dowfal of once great products. To acquire a customer is VERY expensive! Many executives ASSUME INCORRECTLY that customers are stupid & will go along with anything. PRicing issues have caused the downfall of SEGA, for instance. IF REAL INCREASED CARD BENEFITS aren't BLATANTLY seen, the so-called "STUPID customer" will walk. Then that arrogant executive will ultimately lose his job for failure to execute properly as a result of causing the downfall of their product......I see it all the time as a Mckinsey consultant.

Just a reminder, Mr. Harper and Starwood.

Mr. Harper and William,

Of course a potential benefit to the card would be 'fee free' for all flyertalkers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Dan

But if you do decide to charge us, I'll just have to use my Diner's and United Visa card instead.

"Give me a week" became "within the next couple of weeks."

Now it's a month. What gives?

Actually, I would be very happy if we never heard again about this planned change... Every time I see this thread back up top, I shudder... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

I would just make a small request.

Allow the AMEX card to be available for non-american members. I don't know what's involved in that, but it is pretty frigging hard to get enough Starpoints for a good reward by only staying.

Many Thanks, from Canada.

Can we please relax about the proposed changes to the Optima card and allow Mr. Harper and his staff to craft their program?
