Has anyone stayed here before? My next trip back to NYC next week is booked here. I heard that if you have the room near the elevators, than you are in for a carnival ride...

I heard that if you have the room near the elevators, than you are in for a carnival ride... Al UpgradeMe Dec 5, 00, 1:11 pm I am sure that use of the search function could answer these questions. Tolarian Wind Dec 5, 00, 2:20 pm Afang, I am sure that there are some people here who have stayed there recently who would be happy to answer your question, even if they have posted about it before! TW afang Dec 5, 00, 8:13 pm Well, I wouldn't ask here if I didn't do a search... Al jaguar Dec 6, 00, 6:32 pm All rooms are quite small. I suggest you ask for room 1735, 1835, 1935, 2035, 2135, or 2235. Those rooms are a little larger and are located on a quieter side. afang Dec 6, 00, 7:57 pm Thanks for the info Jaguar. I will be have to work nights here in Manhattan, and a quiet room is very needed. Al West Coast 1K Dec 7, 00, 4:36 pm I stayed there and was quite unhappy with my dirty and small room for $425 per night. I put a call into the Plat. desk and they found a way to get me into the Essex House (for cheaper) which had previously been sold out. If you can, I would recommend almost any other property such as the Essex or W. Gaucho100K Dec 8, 00, 8:14 pm afang-- both Starwood properties (Sheraton NY & Towers and Sheraton Manhattan) are really some of the "weaker" Sheratons in major cities. I agree with trying to book at the Essex House. At the Sheraton NY / Manhattan, rates are usually sky-high and the service does not live up.... Unfortunately, I stay at these places a lot, but never enjoy it. ------------------ Gaucho100K [This message has been edited by Gaucho100K (edited 12-08-2000).] dgolds Dec 8, 00, 8:47 pm http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum74/HTML/000417.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum74/HTML/000666.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum74/HTML/000853.html [This message has been edited by dgolds (edited 12-08-2000).] afang Dec 10, 00, 9:57 pm Unfortunately, My mom and wife will be joining me as well. I guess getting another room for my mom is in need, if the room we got is insufficient. Also, I have never stayed at a nice Shearton this year at all...just want to throw that out there for your Starwood frequent guests... Al afang Dec 13, 00, 5:22 pm Actually pleasntly surprised with the room. Clean and dark, which is great when I sleep during the day. Service is friendly just because I am SPG, and I am not even Gold... Al TravelManKen Dec 16, 00, 4:03 am My wife and I stayed there (NY Hotel & Towers) the weekend of 9/7-9/10 this year; we were less than impressed. Very large & impersonal. We had to change rooms when we checked in because the first room smelled like urine - URINE! This property allows pets, that's stupid. I'll never stay at that property again. We had stayed at the W down the street the previous weekend - Best Hotel Around! afang Dec 17, 00, 6:03 pm My collegue stays at the Shearton accorss the street. S New York I think, he doesn't like his room at all, his room is small and has a Queen Size bed. He promised to not to stay at Sheartons anymore. Saw bunch of Irish FAs here, I wonder if Shearton is their Preferred Hotels here... Al QuietLion Dec 17, 00, 11:06 pm The Sheraton New York is across the street from the Sheraton Manhattan and is a terrible hotel. I stay at the Essex House or W Court (haven't tried the W Tuscany next door but I hear it's similar). The plain old W has tiny tiny rooms but a nice bar. Some people like the Sheraton Russell, which I also haven't tried. RichG Dec 17, 00, 11:32 pm But it's usually very high quality urine. doc Dec 18, 00, 11:05 am Have you done some nice chromatography or something to check that out Rich, or are you just speaking "second hand here?" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif With apologies, -Mark RichG Dec 18, 00, 10:31 pm It was actually (partially) a very obscure Firesign Theater reference from 1970 or so, which I am confident someone will get eventually. |
