Urgent - I am in need of reviews of this hotel from people who have stayed there very recently. (i.e. I understand it was remodeled recently?)
Please comment re: TV, bed, room service selection, upgrade avail. (I am PLT).
Thanks.

Heavenly beds. The works. I got upgraded to a corner suite recently (August) as a Gold. Had a whole wall sized entertainment center with large screen TV etc. Also received a free full breakfast coupon at check-in.
I'd recommend it.
The only thing I can't recall is if it had hi-speed internet connection in the room.

Stayed there 2 nights on a weekend. Was upgraded to the club level without having to ask as a Gold. Did not see a club lounge.
Heavenly bed, GREAT curtains that kept the room dark until you opened them, and an exceptionally comfortable chair.
Great view of the airport if you are into such things.

oddest westin experience i've ever had came one night as i was walking from my car to the room and was solicited by a prostitute in a red sports car parked in the driveway not 50 feet from the valets
maybe security wasn't paying attention, or maybe she was a cop, but it sure was odd
perfectly nice hotel otherwise

The last time I stayed there, there were water stains on the ceiling, hinges broken on the cabinets, chipped marble, etc... This was a corner suite with heavenly bed..I'm sure that the upgrade has made a tremendous difference...things can change. I never did hear back from the GM after telling him what a wonderful experience I had. Oh well, I'm just one vote in all the world...

This hotel is not very well soundproofed. You can hear takeoffs/landings all night long.
This stands in stark contrast to the Wyndham LAX just up the road. That is the most soundproofed hotel I have ever been in. Can't hear anything from the outside. Double panes of glass separated by several inches of air helps.
Otherwise it's one of the better Westins.

Just got back from Westin LAX.
Here are my thoughts:
1. Was upgraded to Presidential Suite - which featured a 52 inch TV in living room.
TV itself: A+, Remote Control: D (does not work).
2. This suite has an awesome sun deck with runway view - great view of landing planes and takeoffs as well. Grade: A+
3. Heavenly Bed - A+ (as usual).
4. Housekeeping: C-/D: Turn down service needs work - one night (although requested) no one showed up. Whe they do show up, the bed is not actually not turned down.
5. Shuttle Service TO LAX: FAILING. Drivers make you wait around and take you at their convenience.
6. TV Channel Selection: D. This needs improvement.
7. Room Service: F EXTREMELY OVERPRICED, POORLY PREPARED AND A LOUSY SELECTION. THIS NEEDS IMPROVEMENT.
8. POOL. (Lounge Chair Comfort): A+ - They have new chairs with cushions too...
JACUZZI: GRADE: F - The jacuzzi appears down for construction - the good news is I was told it is to be repaired/replaced in January?
9. Dining Room Staff: Grade: B Daniel is outstanding, others do an OK job.
10. Service Express: Grade: B- Most requests were handled efficiently.
11. Bell Staff: Grade: B+ - The person who delivered my bags was very nice and efficient.
NO PLATINUM AMENITY; GRADE: F
Hope this review helps others..

Upgraded to Presidential Suite and no platinum amenity. Whata shame!
Did my tenth stay here last month. Looks like they were putting in a lounge on the top floor. Rooms have always been quiet. If I've ever been upgraded (other than top floor) it has not been noticed by me.
Hotel is fine. They probably have a problem hiring enough qualified people at the front desk.
For the LAX area, it's fine. Just don't do a midnight stroll.

Presidential suite, you folks must be so lucky on that day. Never got it except for corner suite with a jacuzzi outside.

Yes - I was told be a bellman that the Club Lounge will open in about a month (sounded like in January).
