Starwood Preferred Guest - Starwood offers to match Hilton/Hyatt Status

I called the Starwood center to file several complaints about the Sheraton Grande in Bangkok and made reference to my Hilton Diamond membership. The supervisor offered to upgrade my level to platinum if I fax the latest HHonors statement and membership card to her. She also mentioned that she would do the same for Hyatt members as well. I called the Starwood center in Singapore.

Consider yourself VERY LUCKY cause SPG doesn't usually comp Platinum so freely so u got lucky with SIN.

I was comped to platinum from HH diamond several months ago by the US SPG service center....so it's not only SIN...though I DID get denied at first, and then called back by the rep who said no after she talked with her supervisor and got the OK

Any experience getting comped on Hilton using Starwood Platinum..?? Im already a HHonors Gold, but would like to be comped to Diamond !!!

Any ideas who should I call ??

Well, here is the story.

My first stay was quite pleasant until the subsequent 3 trips.

The second time, they asked for a business card upon check-in and I told the rep. that I ran out. She insisted but backed down when I told her off since the record would show that I have been there before.

My third stay, the front desk was confused if my corporate rate included breakfast. Well, I was checking in together with a few others and the other rep. didn't even question them. When I got into my room (not upgraded), there was a greeting card addressed to someone else.

My last stay, someone called right after I checked-in and told me that my corporate rate may not include breakfast. She was very confused (language problem). I told her that I was tired and call me the next day. Later, someone sends me a letter stating that breakfast was included. In addition, the desk lamp and bath room light were not working.

Those are probably minor details but they certainly do not resemble a "Luxury Collection" hotel. I usually get there at night and don't want to hassle with stupid staffs.

Well, some good things at the hotel: they have great restaurants (Basil and Rossini) and a nice gym. I was impressed with individual TV monitor installed for each tread mill.

I will go back again and hope they will get their acts together.

The Hilton Diamond program doesn't really offer much more perks than Gold. However, you can get more bonus points.

I was Gold and realize that I qualified for Diamond after counting the total room nights I had. Check it out, you can qualify via # of stays or # of room nights.

You may want to call HHonors in Singapore (65) 295-9023. You will get faster response time by calling most FF program office in Asia. I always get a long wait when calling the US center. Hope this help.

Cant anyone tell me exactly who to talk to at starwood to get comped to platinum .I have4 been Diamond Hilton for 3 yrs and Hyatt Diamond for 4 years . I have written twice and they laughed at me when i suggested they comp me. I am currently staying at all starwood to get the free fri/sat nights. PLEASE can someone give me a Name of anyone who can comp me so I can experience their service and decide for myself IF it is worth moving!!!

Last year I sent an e-mail to Hyatt from their web site. I expressed my interest in trying their product. And I requested to be comped to their diamond level based on my SPG platinum level .. 2 days later I got a replay asking me to send a copy of a recent SPG Statement.

I went to SPG web site.. went to my account.. copy and paste and send it again to Hyatt via e-mail.

2 days later, I got a reply stating that I got comped and my account now shows diamond.

I didn’t stay at any Hyatt hotels tho. To be honest I feel stranger if I stay at any hotel other than Starwood. At Starwood properties I feel like I am at home http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

may be Hyatt office in the UK is tough .. try contacing the US office.

I will try and work out how much business I can give Hyatt before I contact them, unlike you my business will be going from Starwood to Hyatt. I would have to be really impressed to move business from Hilton or Marriott to Hyatt.

I don't think either Starwood or I will be sad to see this relationship end!

I have always been a little suprised that Hyatt have no offered a comp as (1) they are a preferred partner of BA and (2) based on the minimum for SPG Platinum, Hilton Diamond and Marriott Platinum, that is quite a few nights a year.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I will give it a try and see how I get on. What a shame there are no Hyatt lurkers here. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

PS: I have only recently looked at the Hyatt forum - I love it! There are people there, who like me, have had enough of Starwood. It is so refreshing, I feel I have found my home.

After faxing a copy of my HH statement and VIP card, I got a call back and I got the Plat. status. The staff was really helfpul and eager to serve.

I too am ready to find another hotel chain. Starwood is just too "strange". They have hotel stays count for promotion, then don't they took away my Free Fridays and stated "we never saw them credited" etc... very fustrating.

But I think Hilton is a good choice for me... enough hotels now with Doubletree and Hampton.

Anybody have any luck with getting comped. as Hilton Diamond with your Starwood Platinum..???

Is it worth trying to get comped to gold status at starwood? I am gold Hilton for the first time this year. Missed out on gold by one stay last year. Should have asked if they would have comped me to gold based on my increase in travel this year.

Get the free Sheraton Optima card and you will be comped to Gold.
