EDIT: ALL CATEGORIES WORK NOW! THe new onw is here: www.talkcity.com/communities/women.htmpl (http://www.talkcity.com/communities/women.htmpl)
END EDIT.
Hi all, haven't seen this posted previously.
You can go to and there are 20 categories with a survey question, categories like, age, art, autos, etc... each category has a qusestion, answer it, get the poll result and click the link for 10 points from mypoints. You can answer [edit] ALL 20 categories for 10 points each, and this is every 24 hours EDIT:EVERY WEEK. The questions don't always change but you can reanswer them and click for the points... or at least that is how it is working now.
Don't click the talkcity by mypoints link, this will take you to the signup window, just go straight to the polls above. Also, if you dont have mypoints already, sign up at the regular site, [URL=http://www.mypoints.com,]www.mypoints.com, (http://www.talkcity.com]www.talkcity.com[/URL) as the talkcity mypoints program doesn't have all the same offers for other point earnings. If you are signing up, do list someone from the board as referring you, say, lastraub.
thanks and hope it helps you all. mypoints are redeemable 1:1 for AA miles once you reach 5K (lesser rewards for smaller amounts) or 1:1.25 for 20K points =25K AA miles. That conversion yields 230 or so miles a day for the polls... http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the great tip! Took me about 15 minutes(28.8 modem) to complete survey. At the rate of 180 points a day, this translates to over 65,000 points per year, or 2 round trip tickets and enough points for a two night stay using a point stretcher award at Hilton. Not a bad deal for a few minutes time each day. Life is good.

I thought this one might make a few people happy.
Just a few notes:
First, plug for Randy, who is responsible indirectly for me finding this, he has a program on talkcity, every second Wednesday, believe at 6 or 7pm pacific time, I went there on a first wed, was disappointed when i realized I was a week early, but started looking around, and Yummy, there where the points...
This weekend mypoints had some problem with points posting, which affected most points, including the talkcity ones. They are supposed to be fixing it and back posting. There are actually 20 categories, but for some reason the "Women" category doesnt give points (think perhaps because the question, about abortion, is to politically sensative for mypoints) and computers (or one of the C categories) isn't working with the current question, but do keep checking it.
Hopefully they will keep this program going for awhile. I do click some of the ad links when the survey results pop up, as I figure that revenue helps to pay their costs, and it is just another window I close in 30 seconds..
Another points oppurtunity on talkcity I found, click on the Homepages tab, then scroll to the very bottom, there is 15 points for visiting "OnNow" valid once a week.
Happy polling.

Okay, good news, I checked my balance and the points for yesterday did post. Hope everyone got them, and lets all hope this one stays open for awhile.
BTW, I was checking out the vacation miles site (they provide the AA miles) and there is a limit of 25000 miles per calendar year per person per vacation miles program. So, schedule yourself to get to that 20,000 point level by late november if possible so you can get the 25000 this year. Use a few of the 500 mile offers from more.com (as posted in another thread), whatever it takes...

did what you said, clicked on your link to www.talkcity.com (http://www.talkcity.com)
took the poll twice, never saw a link to click on to collect the points for mypoints.
also tried clicking on the main page for mypoints by talkcity, which did NOT take me to a sign up screen...it said, since you already have a mypoints account, you don't need to sign up and dumped me back to where I started.
How do you take the poll and collect the points? what do you click on to make the connection?

Looks like you get points with most of polls but not all. "Vote now and get the 10 points" under the vote button is the key. When you submit your vote, there's an icon you need to click on to collect your points. I hope this helps...

Grice,
when you open talkcity, there is a box called "what interests you" in that is the list of 20 categories starting with age, autos, etc. click one of these, then in the page that opens in the lower rightwill be the "community poll" with the question for that category. answer that, then the results page has the link for the points.
I think you are answering the "Speak Up Poll" questions on the front page, this one doesn't give any points.
19 of the 20 categories now give points, exception is women as noted before, and computers is working again, thus you can get 190 points a day.
Correct about seeing the mypoints notice beneath the question, see it and you will get them after answering.
The talkcity by mypoints link you clicked would have taken you to a signup page, except since you have the regular Mypoints membershiup cookie, it rejects you, so you dont end up with 2 accounts which wold lead many into confusion.... If you didnt have mypoints cookie at the time, ie not a member or you had "removed member key" it would have taken you to the talkcity mypoints sign up page. (This is mentioned is not as good as the regular program as it is missing some of the other point earning oppurtunities, but may have other benefits from time to time- I dont know).
Hope this helps.
BTW - Saw Randy's pic while answering the survey, The liveflyer chat on talkcity is tonight, wed 8 at 6pm pacific time if anyone wants to drop by...

I thought this was a great offer when I first saw it posted here on this board, but am having second thoughts.
I don't collect AA miles, so I'd have to start from scratch to get those 20,000 points (converted to 25k miles). If, as noted above, it takes 10 minutes to complete the surveys and get 190 miles, it'd take over 17.5 hours to earn a free ticket!
I'd bet that most people on this board earn enough salary after several hours to purchase a domestic economy class ticket.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, really, but the above program and similar ones really do prove that there's no free lunch: you've still got to devote time and effort to "earn" those "free" miles.
Good luck to those willing to work for those miles, but I think I'll just stick to using my Diners Club instead!
Beckles
Sep 8, 99, 1:46 pm
Depends on whether or not those 17.5 hours could be used productively otherwise ....
Besides, and maybe I'm in the minority here, my take home pay would make it worth it for me to do that ... (500/17.5 = $28.50/hour tax free basically ...).
Even better than the AA miles is that for 25,000 VacationMiles you can get a ticket on DL, which I'm thinking may even earn FF mileage!

Talk City, MyPoints.com Team Up for Co-Branded Loyalty and Incentive Program
PR Newswire - Sep 08, 1999
Talk City User Base to Receive Incentives for Business Services,

I didn't mean to sound arrogant about the hourly pay issue (at the present time I'm not making all that much myself, but that's okay). Rather, I just wanted to emphasize the fact that it'll take over seventeen hours of pointing and clicking to get a free ticket that might be worth only two or three hundred dollars.
But then again, maybe I will sign up after all and give it a try for a while. Ah, the things we do for miles...

A free ticket can be worth considerably more than $200 or $300. I last used a freebie on a transcontinental trip (SEA-BOS) that did not include a Saturday night stayover. If I had paid for that ticket, it would have been $920.00. Also, using miles for upgrades or biz/first class tickets increases the mileage value dramatically.

Don't get all hyped up and start dreaming of your trips to Hawaii for answering surveys - it's probably a scam like Questions.net, which I read about on this site about a year ago.
I would be very surprised if it didn't work like Questions.net did: They offer a few points up front in exchange for a pile of personal survey questions, and then promise a stream of questions every so often to get more points. (Watch that daily list of questions to move to weekly, then very rarely, if ever)
After they get your info, they don't send another question, and the few points that you've received aren't enough to even transfer.
Result: free customer survey data!
I'll believe it when I see it.

Hi all. Glad many people are using this tip. I love these boards.
Anyway, mypoints was down for awhile, I had trouble connecting all day yesterday, but it is working now.
Even though the survey says you voted already, you still get the points, just on the second or seventh vote it does not calculate into the totals.. but the points are added to your account.
Thanks for posting that press release.
there may be other hidden points in talkcity we havent found. to date -190 points for 19 surveys-daily, onnow link, 15 pts weekly, and make a homepage-25pts -once(I guess)...
Mypoints isn't a milenet (netmiles is Randy's 1,000 pt Tue/Thurs program, that's how i remember). MYPT is the Nasdaq symbol. If the talkcity points ever go away, there are other ways to get Mypoints, just look on the regular Mypoints site, some of those offers you may want to take advantage of anyway.
The vacation miles can be used for many things as Beckles notes, so not just AA miles, but I do think that is one of the best. Vacation miles also offers Delta and Continental miles, but i think they aren't allowed under mypoints' vacationmiles offer, but never hurts to ask vacationmiles direct once you have the certificate. Otherwise there are some airline/hotel certificates, merchandise, etc.
GRICE - and all- The 24 hour thing is a calendar day!!!! Not a real 24 hour period! You can answer all the questions at 1145pm and then at 12:01am start again, getting your 380 points in a half hour or less... Mypoints appears to be in a Mountain Time zone.
It takes 40 awards of 25K miles to get to AA million mile status, it takes about 100 days getting mypoints solely free (taking a few points from other offers to get 200 daily..) so in 4000 days, everyone here will be million milers and lifetime AA gold... hmmm we might get tired of those surveys before that... better add that 100K oneworld offer to get a boost... But seriously, this is just a fun way to get some points, you can always cash out early, the lowest mileage award comes at 1000 miles for 1,500 Mypoints, it increases to 1:1 at 5,000 miles/Mypoints.
There are other offers from Mypoints some may like, perhaps I should make a mypointsworkshop site... on talkcity for the 25 points...

I redeemed 5,000 VacationMiles earlier this year, and a couple of things to note. Only the awards listed on the MyPoints site are available for VacationMiles, not all of the awards listed on the VacationMiles site.
As for best value, I think there are some other ones that are pretty good values besides the AA miles, including the free ticket on DL (which I'm thinking may even earn miles since they probably buy it for you) and two nights at Hyatt + $100 AMEX gift check for 27,000 points looks pretty good too.

Once you have concevrted your mypoints into vacation miles who is to say where you got them from? If you had a sum of vacationmiles and wrote to vacationmiles asking that they be converted to continental miles how would vacationmiles know where they came from?

ffhound, they do differentiate where the VacationMiles come from, when you get your certificate from MyPoints it will say "5,000 VacationMiles from MyPoints" and your award choices are restricted to the awards printed on the certificate you receive (the same ones shown on the MyPoints website).

The only question I have is how long is this(the points) going to last? This site is to good to be true. I have used some points for the Sprint phone cards(with a daughter away at college, it certainly comes in handy). I agree with Beckles that the vacationmiles award for 27,000 points is certainly one of the most desirous rewards on the MyPoints menu, and if this site stays up and in production, easily obtainable in a short period of time. Any way you look at it, its going to be fun while it lasts!

Yet as beckles has pointed out previously, it depends on where your flying to and the relative cost of the ticket. Especially if as pgupta001 suggests, you may not get the miles for the free airline ticket. You get elite level qualifying credit at Hyatt for free stays plus the $100 Amex counts with/ for stays as "cash" when you pay for another night. At an relatively expensive Hyatt such as a Carribean resort, this is worth quite a bit in addition to qualification credit for Diamond.

first, the talkcity/mypoints site is back up after the part day problem, and seems to be working much faster now.
Second, I just received an email from Talkcity which included the following about earning mypoints (and mypoitns by talkcity). It seems to be good news, the surveys seem to be with us for awhile, and there may be more ways to earn points in the future.
****Begin email***
Here's how easy it is to earn Points.
Earn Points at Talk City for:
- voting on the community polls (earn Points every day!)
- building a homepage
- visiting OnNow
More Point earning opportunities are coming to Talk City...watch
for them!
Earn Points at MyPoints by Talk City for:
- visiting web sites
- reading targeted email deals
Earn really BIG Points at MyPoints by Talk City for:
- shopping online (like Garden.com and Everything Wireless)
- trying out products and services (like @Backup and Disney Club Blast)

So keep your eyes out and take a look around everyonce in awhile just in case.
