Hi Fellow Mypointers
I have a suggestion. Is it time to request Randy for a dedicated mypoints forum. Lot of us currently post everything related to mypoints in buzz. And they easily gets burried inside buzz quickly.
MyPoints.com, Inc. is a leading provider of Internet direct marketing, incentive and loyalty products. And there are several of us who has something to talk about it everyday.
Depending on your response we can post a request to "Only Randy Petersen".
Thanks for your time

Dont know about this one venkat. We are still waiting for a MC/Visa forum. We have quite a few sections already! Were missing hotel and rental car chains, which may have a higher priority. My points, I don't think so!

I would concur, we do not need a dedicated MyPoints forum.
My countersuggestion would be some category which would cover MyPoints and other incentive programs that can be found on the net. Make it more generic

I was just thinking this morning, before I read this post, that I wish there was a forum just for MyPoints. I'm just getting into earning miles with MyPoints and I'll admit it's easier to come to this board and get the tips, than to go to the MyPoints website, which is sometimes busy and I can't get in, and poke around there. But, I can see that if we create forums for this, that and the other, there will be just too many.

I'll throw my support behind a forum devoted to on-line marketing point programs redeemable for frequent flyer points. That should cover mypoints and a host of other schemes.
Mypoints gets quite a bit of discussion these days and it would be great if we had a forum somewhere where we could get the latest gossip on points accrual, redemption for FF points etc.

A forum dedicated programs similar to mypoints would just be what we are looking for.

may be if we can list all similar programs we could have a more solid case to request a separate forum for these programs.
I can think of
1. mypoints
2. planetall
3. webbonusmail
4. freeride
5. clickrewards
6. birdsmail
anyone can add to the list?

Because MyPoints can be a significant way for us to earn miles, we need to have a forum that will allow us to learn of new opportunities with the program.
I like the suggestion of having a forum that discusses incentive programs available on the Internet. Maybe this would keep some of the clutter out of OMNI and BUZZ.

I have slightly mixed feelings regarding this proposal. On the surface, I would actually want to say NO - FT is a forum for frequent flyers, not web clickers.
But, but, but...such simple distinctions aren't realistic. Mypoints provides a fantastic way to accumulate frequent flier MILES and the fact is that many of us (myself included) use the site, and come here (FT) to exchange creative ideas and tips.
Of course, the other problem which is oft cited is the proliferation of forums on this board. In light of that, I would throw my vote behind the concept of a "Internet incentives" forum, or even just plain old "incentives" forum (which could include Healthy Choice, etc.) This would have the added benefit for clearing all the mypoints (and other internet site) threads out of Buzz to keep the flying purists out there happy.
Realistically, however, I suspect this might not happen for a while. The best we could hope for is that such a forum has equal (or almost equal) priority as the MC/Visa forum - which means it's still a little ways off down the road.

Let us please unclutter this forum ! We need another, whatever the name, forum for tracking all these Web programs .. Mine is an Aye! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Whats' the big deal? Why NOT set up a mypoints forum? Let traffic dictate if it's worth having, seems like there's a lot of talk about it right now.
With the news today about Mypoints partnering with Excite portal, there should only be MORE ways to earn points.
Don't understand the No's. Where do you No'ers want Mypoints stuff posted?
Worst case, post all mp items under American, since it seems most people are shooting for 25K miles from 20k points.
Whatever, i just don't see it worth arguing about...just set it up and move on.

In general, I would prefer more dedicated forums, but before that happens I would like the feature Randy said would be forthcoming, which allows users to selct their forums of interest. Right now there are many forums which I do not read, but they clutter up my screen.

I'd be pleased to see fora for MyPoints and ClickRewards... the Buzz contains a huge number of related threads (and yes, it is interesting, but it swamps out the other stuff when I am zooming through for a quick look)

To make more space why not get rid of the China Airlines forum.
Not many posts and anyway, if you fly this airline you might not get back to post again.
cheers Peter
Whatever is decided it is just fine with me, as I don't have strong feelings regarding this point. Ha, ha! Consider however, that if you have more forums, you have more choices of where to post and also possibly more multiple posts. Also, if you go to a more broad forum like the buzz, then you are exposed to various incentives etc., that you might not otherwise see. You check the titles and just go on as I do if you like, or can check it out by going on further. So again, whatever is eventually decided- fine! Either way.
Give it a rest Peter! http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Leaving CA aside, there are a number of smaller airline forums that just don't get significant traffic eg
Air Lingus (16)
Aero California (2)
Aeromexico (7)
Air China (5)
Air Tran (13)
Alitalia (10)
Asian (2)
BWIA (2)
British Midland (10)
China Southern (13)
Eva Air (5)
Jal (16)
Korean (15)
Lot (5)
Latinpass (9)
Midwest (7)
Phillipines (10)
SAA (6)
Sun Air (7)
Tarom (16)
Adam's Mark (5)
Concorde (7)
Howard Johnson (2)
Innpoints (4)
That's a total of 195 posts for 24 forums.
And look at Asian. It hasn't had a post since February. yet how many mypoints topics are in the Buzz currently?
I suggest that somebody economically rationalise the number of forums and create an 'other FF programs' forum to cover these less popular programs. It would certainly save a lot of bandwidth.
