Diners Club Club Rewards - Double Club Reward PointsView Full Version : Double Club Reward Points henwood Jun 6, 99, 10:45 am Now through 7/31/99 get double Club Reward points for every purchase at Citgo. For information call,1-800-234-6377. (From the Best Fares Newsdesk) BBQ_Pork_Sandwich Jun 14, 99, 8:26 am Good luck finding a Citgo station that actually accepts Diners -- I'm 0 for 3 so far. --BBQ ------------------ Beckles Jun 14, 99, 8:30 am I was thinking that I don't recall Citgo stations in my area accepting them either. It's hit or miss with gas stations in general, though Shell seems to accept them pretty universally and Texaco is pretty good about it too. Pushpak Jun 14, 99, 11:11 am As do Exxon and Beacon in my neck of woods (NV/CA). (66 and Philips do not accept Diners, I've found.) CITGO stations in the Reno area seem to only accept debit card. Too bad, 'cause they seem to usually have the cheapest gas. (A connection, you say?) Pushpak Jun 15, 99, 9:48 am Amendment to previous note: I noticed today it's ARCO that's affiliated with AM/PM, not CITGO. In fact, there aren't many (any?) CITGO stations in Northern Nevada. Sorry about the mis-information. -Pushpak jimquan Jun 18, 99, 5:57 pm BBQ, you said it. The Citgo near me doesn't take Diners either. It's a great promotion ... for Amex. bokich Jun 21, 99, 6:37 pm I got burned as well. Over the weekend I sought out the nearest Citgo station to fill up the car (incidentally, Citgo has an excellent website which provides all the locations mapped out via Mapquest) and discovered, after tanking up, that they did not accept Diners. Curiously enough, there was a sticker on the door that said they did; but when the attendant tried running the card thru the machine, it didn't work. I cared enuf to call Diners; they couldn't/didn't do much for me, but suggested maybe next time asking the attendant to call (800-234-4034) in for CR card authorization; aparently not all those automatic card swiper machines work properly with Diners. SD Flyer Jun 21, 99, 7:08 pm This is typical of DC...it is still a pretty esoteric product for most consumer purchases. Insisting that the merchant call eliminates the convenience of the card, especially with the proliferation of card readers at the pump. While CITGO has at least 10,000 locations in the US, it's not as concerned with consistent service from location to location like Mobil or Shell. It's more like a loose confederation of gas stations. I've never had a problem with Diners at Mobil, Shell, Exxon, Texaco. Beacon and Amoco seem to be spotty, though. This is strange, since Diners and Amoco once offered a co-branded card (Amoco Torch Club) that incorporated an Auto Club feature into the DC product. jamiel Jun 21, 99, 7:26 pm I've also never had a problem at Phillips 66. A lot depends on whether it is a "jobber" who runs the station or if it is a "mainline" station (supplied directly by Phillips) |
