Given recent posting on the considerable variations in spend before being invited for Centurion membership, I thought it would be interesting to compile and compare experiences. How much was your monthly spend before being upgraded?

Yet another "how did you/how do I get your/my Centurion" thread. Don't we have enough of these already>

UpgradeMe seems overly concerned about others getting the card. Drop me an e-mail if you'd like more info.

Min spend £100 max spend £75k normal spend anywhere in that range.

As for Upgradme's comments, I kind of agree as ALL of Flyer26's post have been how to get a black card.

Fyer26 Just call them and ask. If your profile fits the bill the will probably have invited you. If you don't travel a lot and stay in premium hotels then it isn't worth it anyway.

I don't think that this kind of question is of any interest to other FTers.

First, we all know, because it has been discussed very often here, that the spendings alone isn't the criteria to be invited for a Centurion card. All amounts you can read here or in the press are false.

2nd point, how much people spend is a private issue, and has not to be disclosed in forums, I think.

Flyer26, the card is only a tool, it will bring you nothing else as some benefits. If you can't sleep as long as you don't have one in your wallet, simply call Amex and ask.
If they think you have the right spending profile, you should receive an invitation in a few weeks.

How much you spend in your Amex card is private.. unless you choose to post it.

You forgot one thing- Amex's marketing department has done a great job with the black card. If you live on the road- I guess 2.5K a year just to have the card may be worth it for some or if you can get your company to pay the fee, but it seems there are a lot of people that would pay it just to impress the check out girl at the supermarket...Marketing at its best....

This is a great place for people to try to figure out what the "magic marketing" formula is for an invite, as there are a lot of black card holders here. I don't think there is any problem with people posting their questions here....

Hey upgrademe, looking through the archives and forums you seem to comment on just about every single centurion requirements thread out there. Why dont you save your energy and spare us the moaning and just ignore them?

I for one am interested in qualification levels in the UK, one member has said that he spent around 15000 GBP a year and was invited. I am sure that tons of others that have not said anything are also interested in seeing what exactly is required. We all know that the $150k limit is BS (At least in the UK), and probably a way to turn back "unworthy" customers without creating a fuss http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

If you want a Black Card - call Amex and ask them. They will tell you yes or no. That way you don't need to 2nd guess the qualification requirements for any given country.

sdix, they will probably tell you something that is not true. Many people in the US were told you need a $150k minimum spent, yet others have qualified with around $100k apparently.

I do agree however that you should give amex a call yourself flyer. Perhaps you get to talk to a nice rep that can help you out a bit, and give you a rough idea of what they require. Oh and ironmajt, YGM!

The simplest way to get a black card is to stop using the platinum card. That's all there is to it.
