I got an email today from my "new" Centurion Concierge. I've had this card for several years now and I don't recall ever getting an email announcement of a new concierge. In the beginning I knew my concierge, but they kept changing and I realized that they had a very narrow range of use for me so I stopped caring who my concierge was.
I wonder if this email was prompted by a new effort on customer service, or was it just a conscientious employee?

I was just speaking with a friend of a friend, and she is one of AmEx's Centurion Concierges.
It was really interesting talking to her. She is based out of Massachusetts and she had 15 'clients' assigned to her. I was surprised that is all the number of people that she handled, and she claimed that those 15 kept her plenty busy.
I asked her how she finds stuff for her clients and she had a number of resources. They ranged from AmEx travel, to lists of restaurants with agreements (or understandings) with AmEx, to preferred supplier chains. I asked her what she did when it was something off the wall, and she just said that she uses the web, or phone books, or makes calls... Basically, she just did whatever it takes to get the job done. She would usually give the client a few choices and worked with them until they were happy.
I asked her about price - and her initial comment was many of her clients are very wealthy and that they usually do not care what things costs. They just wanted it done, fast and correctly. She did say that if it was not to their liking (or to expensive), she would find alternatives.
Do you have this persons extension? I am looking for a Centurion Concierge and have not found someone that goes above and beyond as of yet.
Thanks,
Alfred--

Sorry EXPLAT, I am not at liberty to give out this person's telephone number
(I actually do not know their work number - I am not a Centurion member myself)

I recently got a Centurion card, and received the same form email 'introducing' me to my new concierge. I am quite pleased that there is no wait for Centurion cust. service, and that they are all US-based! I am getting ready to fly out now from LGW to AMS, and will see how smoothly the remainder of my Centurion-planned trip will go. I will be in Amsterdam for 3 days, then fly into Geneva for another three. They booked all of my hotels, and helped with rail travel, and dining recommendations. I was able to get ridiculously cheap fares through Easyjet, and Hapag-Lloyd Express, (cent. was $600+ for inter-europe 1 way flights, easyjet was generally $50).
Did you request a concierge assigned to you? Is this done automatically? And is it worth geting assigned, or is it best just to go through whoever happens to be answering the phones at that hour?

Most likely Kevin Bruce - the best concierge I've found at Amex. He's mine, as well - He is AWESOME.
