When you are the primary card holder with AMEX, how many supp. and/or additional cards can you have in your name all on the same account?
Does it differ from card to card?
Thanks,
Matt
The card counter, 13th and 14th digits of the card number, allows up to 99 supplementary cards ( 00=main card, 01=first supplementary or additional card, 02=2nd suppl, etc.), but it could be limited by Amex for some reason.
Centurion (always) and Platinum (in some countries) accounts include 7 cards in the annual fee :
- 00 : main card
- 01 : A.C. card
- 02 : first supplementary card (same color as main card)
- 03 to 06 : free suppl. cards (lower level as main card)
but you can apply for more suppl. cards for an extra fee (as for Gold and Green accounts).

For example, the Starwood Preferred Guest Platinum American Express Card allows for 99 additional cards without charge.

The US Centurion program includes only a single card for the base annual fee. You can get supplementary Gold, Platinum, or Centurion cards for various amounts which are about half of what each card would normally be on an account of its own.

Right Steve M, I always forget how hard is the life of US Centurion cardholders http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm sorry, I didn't explain myself correctly in my original post.
My 13 and 14 check digits are as follows:
00- me
01- my wife
02- me
I tried to get 03 and 04 for myself but when I sent my request in, they told me that I can get them for other people, but not for myself. Is this standard policy?
Thanks,
Matt
I'm not sure there is any standard policy for this. You should call Amex and explain them why you need another suppl. card for yourself (for online purchases etc.)

ahrz, have you succeeded in requesting a suppl. card on your name from AmEx Germany? Anyone else? If yes, who did you ask? The (Platinum) phone representatives I spoke to denied the possibility of getting a gold or green supplementary card on my name on the same account...
Regards,
Stefan

I didn't need one, but it should be possible to apply fot a lower level suppl. card of a Platinum or Centurion account.

I don't know what the policy in the US or Germany is, but in Switzerland I just sent them an application in my name for an additional card the same way I did for my wife. No comments whatsoever, two weeks later I got the extra cards. I would just try it with a regular supplementary card application.
