Just received an email from AmEx Centurion UK offering tickets to various concerts. This is fine and I often get these offers sent through. The problem is that the email was CC'd (not BCC'd) to another 10 people and now they have my email address and I have theirs. Surely this is not very intelligent of AmEx and is a breach of confidence?

Hi horowitz,

Which one of the 10 was you then? I got the e-mail too from TCB.

It was a genuine mistake by TCB - as you know that person sends out mails on a regular basis and this is the first mistake like this.

Yes it gave the e-mail addresses away, but it didn't reveal any account information and I don't actually remember any of them revelaing the persons proper name.

Thanks,
Richard

This of course assumes that people's names are not part of their email address. What about someone whose address is John@Doe.com?

Richard - didn't see your email (at least nothing with Richard or Mannion in the title) and think that maybe separate CCs were sent out to each person (obviously more than the 10 emails that were CCd to me were sent out in total). But there were definitely 3 or 4 clear names in the email addresses I saw, including company information. I'm not particularly upset - it seems likt a genuine mistake and is the first I've noticed as you say. Just a bit sloppy.

Just looked again and see what you mean now!

I wasn't on the CC line, I was BCC'd. Blame our software.

Maybe I should ask TCB to send it to my amexcenturion.co.uk domain http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks,
Richard

How do you get on this list ? I've never received an email from Centurion, except when I've asked them to email me something.

Received a quick apology from TCB following my email to her asking if she'd really meant to do that. She apologised which is something I guess.

Ozzie - you need to call and moan and ask to be put the list - it's not something they offer as a matter of course, but they send out regular emails with offers for movie premiers, concert tickets, previews etc (mostly at an obscene cost, esp the movie premiers).
They only added me to the list when I was going to cancel my card because of the poor service I was receiving, as a kind of goodwill gesture. Teresa is the woman who sends all the emails out.

I just inquired and was added to the list a while ago.

Yes some of the events are expensive - how much was that Fashion Week thing???? but then some are very reasonable. The ticket allocations are in prime positions.

Its not Teresa BTW - not unless you are getting the mails via another Lifestyle agent. It used to be Terri, but she is doing another role in Lifestyle now.

Thanks,
Richard

Sorry - Tamsen, not Teresa. Not enough coffee.

So what's Tamsen's (or Terri's or Theresa's) email - so we can all apply for this list?

Phone up and press option 3, and then ask.

Thanks,
Richard
