American Express Membership Rewards - Singapore Plat Benefits - or lack thereof

Shocked to discover that despite the S$1,200 annual fee (approx US$690, #410) the benefits appear to be much less than those described in this forum for the US/UK cards, despite the lack of the Centurion product here and Australia (which I understand to be where the program is administered).
The Platinum card's benefits (like for all other Amex cards) are defined for the local market. There may be huges differences between countries.
If it's not a problem for you to use a card denominated in US$ instead of S$, you could apply for an International Dollar Card (the cards are similar to the UK cards, and managed from UK).

Epigram,
I have to agree that when it comes to written benefits, Singapore's Plat benefits are certainly inferior compared to cards issued in other countries. But having both the US (had!!) and Singapore Plat, I have to say that the Singaporean service is much much much better. Firstly, when you need help, you actually speak to a person. Their concierge service is extremely efficient. You could keep in touch with your travel representative by email and believe it or not, they actually reply to you.
Thus, although the annual fee is higher, I rather have the Singapore Plat card. Someone who cherishes the written benefits morewill certainly disagree with me on this one.

thanks arhz & odin.
have been told it's is in the mail. don't earn USD so the IDC is impractical - too much exchange risk! guess i'll have to live with less written benefits but (hopefully) more personalised service.
