is there any reason I shouldn't downgrade to the standard classic card next year for the 30$ less annual fee. The only difference I saw between the 2 is the signup bonus, hence I signed up for the gold first year fee free, and 10,000 bonus miles, but am curious if there is any reason I should keep the gold level card next year or should I just downgrade it when renewal comes up?

The Gold card carries a higher multiple on DL purchases.

If you do this you only get .5 miles per dollar charged.

I'd just mention that Amex is currently giving away free Gold Delta cards (no fee for first year)... that should probably get them to comp you for at least a year.

yeah, I got the free for first year one, with 10,000 bonus miles after first purchase
