American Express Membership Rewards - UK GOLD: Any reason to upgrade from Green?

I'm a UK Greene and have been recently bombarded with invitations to upgrade to a Gold (no special offer or lower introductory fees).

I'm happy with my Green which I rarely use since I have BA AMEX Plus. Customer services have been great and I'm not seeking better service or more attention. I have elite tier at BA and Starwood, so nothing more can GOLD offer me.

The only difference I will get by upgrading is paying more for the annual fees! Therefore I don't see any added value for the GOLD.

Am I missing the point? or there are some hidden treasures!

I recently received an Amex Gold that offers 2 MR points per £1. If you can get this, it might be worthwhile. Also, IIRC, doesn't Gold allow for a reduced fee on the BA Amex? Otherwise, I agree that there is no reason to switch.

I had gold for a couple of years but didn't really notice any difference between that and Green for the increae in annual fee. There are better insurance benefits if you need them though.

I ended up going for a Platinum card which has a lot more benefits albeit at a far higher cost. I wouldn't say it quite pays for itself for me but a peace of mind factor makes it worth having.

I
