I am in the process of upgrading my BA AmEx CC to Premium Plus and was wondering....

Could I set my girlfriend up as a supplementary cardholder if she is a US citizen residing in the US?

-Although she is very good with her $$$ should she pay late or whatever does it affect my credit rating?
-Do I get the BA miles earned on her spend? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Anything else worth noting?

PS. Perhaps I should have asked them on the phone http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

This might help:

Check out clause 2.4.
I have a Platinum with them, and the supp cardholder is not responsible to pay the bill at all, the full liability sits with me, so I'm guessing this will be the same with you. Therefore, the question of her paying late or not is irrelevant, as any exchange of funds would be between you & her, not between Amex & her http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Yes you can have sup card holder resitent outside UK. I asked cust service and they advised that it was not a problem as you were responsible for the account. ( This was a Cent card not BA Amex but I would bet same rules apply.

Do you get the BA miles? Yes. If you absolutely trust them and they spend a fair bit, supplementary card holders can be very good for you indeed http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Anything else worth noting? Well..... there is the issue of how she will pay if she doesn't have Pounds based bank account. Paying money directly into your British bank account instead may prove expensive (It costs me £20 just to excersise a few measly share options when I have to send money to a bank in Texas).

In summary, it's worth doing so long as there is a cost effective option for her to pay.

I very much doubt she has a GBP based bank account. This passed me by. I work in a bank in Uni vacations so should have known better. I think International Payments for us are £30 a go.

Ah well it was worth a try http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

No. Anyone can be a supp cardholder, since you're the one with the headache if they run out and buy a Porsche... You and only you are responsible for any spend on your main and all supplementary cards.

To miss the £30 charge, you could:

- Set up a US$ account that you use when outside the UK, or just draw it from there and pay the currency conversion charge (citibank, for example, offers UK based US$ accounts to just about anyone).

- Use paypal ? If I recall correctly, you can pay from one paypal account to another for no fee.
