American Express Membership Rewards - Do I have recourse for them to match better offer?

About 6 weeks ago, I applied for the Delta SkyMiles Business card and received it. The promo was 10K for the first purchase and 5K for signing up two employees. I've done all that and am waiting for my 15K.

Then TODAY, I get a new offer for the same card (under the company name, not my personal name) and the CURRENT OFFER is for a total of 25K miles! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif

It is 10K with first purchase, 10K when you charge $5K by 1/31/04, and 5K for adding two employees.

My offer was only a month ago and now I'm missing out on 10K in bonus miles http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Do I have any recourse for them to match the new offer? Or am I just screwed???

Get two cards, wait for the miles to post and cancel one with the lower limit

I DID consider that, but thought I might not get approved again because they will see that 'our company' already has an account.

You might want to check the fine print on that new offer. I think what Amex means by 10K miles for charging $5K is that you actually get a bonus of only 5K miles. The other 5K miles are what you would normally get (1 mile per $) for purchases. At least this is how Amex 'charge X $ by X date = X miles' sign up offers have worked in the past. So the actual bonus mile difference may not be as much as first appears.

BTW I am still waiting on my second 2500 additional card bonus to post. The first 2500 posted right away and it has been 2 months (ordered both additional cards on the same day).

PhilC: I think I have it right, as the big headlines on the page is "Up to 25K Delta Sky Miles...."
