Only on airlines that do not require all miles on their metal like UA.
AA ?

Be careful, because silver status on some carriers is not worth much. Spend your miles carefully although you have plenty.

I only know of American...

and there's no good way to get MR points into AA miles.

The least devaluation is MR --> CO --> Amtrak --> UA --> Diners --> AA (gets you 2 MR points = 1 AA miles, but is limited to 25k/yr unless you're an Amtrak elite in which case it's limited to 50k/yr)

You can do MR --> CO --> HHonors --> AA (which is likely better than MR --> HHonors --> AA, especially during a 25% bonus period for CO transfers).

You can also do MR --> *Wood --> AA but since it takes 3 MR points to get 1 *Wood point, this is a lousy deal, even with the 25% conversion bonus from *Wood to AA when you transfer chunks of 20k points.

Doesn't seen like a good idea to transfer your points for lifetime elite status. The elite benefits are low to start with and bonus miles will be of little use since you probably traveling on award tickets.

As others have mentioned, apparently, only AA allows 'external' miles be used for lifetime status.

However, there is one way (that I know of) to move some of those Amex points to AA miles. You would need to move your Amex points to Marriott (only 1:1 in the US). Then you need to request a Marriott travel package award which includes airlines miles. For example, award code 083 gives you 7 nights at any category 1-5 Marriott property and 120K miles on the airline of your choice. The cost is 235K Marriott points. Additionally, Marriott would allow you to redeposit (for $20) the hotel portion of the award giving you back ~50K Marriott points. You would net about 600K AA miles for 1,000K Amex points. Not a good trade-off in my mind, but for some folks it works.
