Or should I say still have a Lifetime Amex card?
Question was prompted by the "What's the best thing Amex ever did for you?" thread. I've been pleased with the product and was curious about others' opinions.
What is a Lifetime Amex card ? A card with the fee waived forever ??
Would love a lifetime Centurion card http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ...

Lifetime membership was a targetted promotion Amex ran over 20 years ago (dating myself a bit here) where you could pay a hefty one-time fee - think it was around $600 or $700 - then never pay annual fees again. The card actually says Lifetime Member on it. I was really reluctant, being a lot younger and it was a lot of money at the time. I went for it though and now with the annual fee running at $180 it turned out to be a really good investment. Someone asked in another thread "What's the best thing Amex ever did for you?" and this would have to be my answer. I was certain with somewhat parallel business patterns and travel habits some other FlyerTalkers must have one. The program is not without its issues, but I'm pretty happy.

Member since '68, although it feels like a lifetime. Generally, I'm also satisfied with AMEX, more so now that AMEX (Canada) has added Air Canada's Aeroplan as a partner in it's MR program. But we'll have to see what the conversion ratios will be.

You would be stupid to cancel your lifetime card now. I don't think it will ever be offered again.
Just like Foundation Members, You only get that once. If AMEX value you enuff, I recon they will do almost anything to please you.
