American Express Membership Rewards - Double MR Points?

Can I get double Membership Rewards points for purchases at gas stations, grocers, and home improvement stores the same way I can get double FF miles with my Delta Amex card?

I just went through upgrading my standard MR account. There are 2 "premium" MR programs: Rewards Plus and Preferred Rewards.

From what I could discern, Rewards Plus offers the same 2X points at gas stations, etc. plus 2x points (first year only, 1.5X thereafter) on charges at AMEX partners (airline, hotel partners, etc.).
