...."co-branded charge cards".
I'm wondering if that means they'll be issuing new Amex/AC cards, or will the current green/gold/platinum still work with the MR.
Guess we'll have to wait and see, and hope that the conversion ratio turns out to be 1:1. Lots of speculation so far, without too much info. But at least it's good news to begin with.

If it means getting a new card I doubt they'll have many takers. If it's a MR conversion program a la CP or current CO/DL, it should be 1 MR = 2 Aeroplan given the current value/prospects of Air Canada. They should also re-examine the conversion rates for CO/DL and the hotels in light of the much stronger Canadian $. The 60 cent dollar was given as a reason for the downgrade - we were still getting 1:1 when the dollar was weaker than it is now. Any word on AC restoring the companion ticket offer?

In the Globe today, the deal states it will only be the charge cards (the ones that have to be paid each month in full) that can accumulate points, and that their credit cards will not accumulate any AP points.

Aeroplan will also be added to the suite of airlines available to US cardholders.
